I can't do this. I got an F in history and my mom flipped out. I have no computer access now. I can't work on anything music related.

My computer broke, so I can't either. But this might be a good thing, in a way. I lost everything I was working on, but I'm getting a Mac now, so I can use Logic. That might help my productivity a lot, because Logic looks awesome.

I've tried it and it is indeed awesome.
And it's fuckin brilliant when it comes to mixing :3

I like fl though because it looks fancy and everyone else uses it (I use it even though I am on a Mac...)

FL doesn't look fancy at all. It looks almost as bad as Cubase and Reason. Logic and Ableton are the ones that look fancy. And I don't know of many people who use FL, other than tutorial-maker people and beginners. Seems like most people use Ableton.
But Logic has definitely been the most attractive DAW, IMO.

I have worked with Cubase, Logic, and FL. Each has their nice niches to them.

Cubase is like the one-size-fits-all DAW imho. It has a mixer setup similar to Logic, the playlist is comfortable to work in, automation is easy enough to use, and the default sounds are pretty good.

Logic has been rough to use for me. This might be because I'm not used to using Macs, but I keep hitting walls trying to wrestle with the program to do tasks that are generally pretty simple in other DAWS (at least the two/three others I've worked with). The mixer is really awesome though, very similar to Pro Tools if anybody has used that. The signal processing is very nice. However, the default samples range from god-like (i.e. choir, piano) to just god-awful (any of the strings). The synthesizers are really solid too, but my biggest gripe is the playlist and piano roll. It has been way to much trouble messing with it to be smooth for me.

FL has a cleaner setup than you give it credit I think. The simple drag-and-drop layout and default synths are a good springboard for learning all the other DAWS out there. I use it because it's a bit less fussy to use, and sampling is super easy. The playlist editor is the best I've used so far. Mixer has it's perks, but there are better alternatives. If you're looking for people who use FL, I know zircon and General Mumble use it 100%. Most others around these forums use it as well I believe for various reasons.

I've been looking to try out Ableton Live since I have quite a few friends who have taken a liking to it. All in all, I'd recommend most people to try out AT LEAST two or more DAWs to get a feel for what others have to offer. You might be impressed with what you find. If I remember correctly, deadmau5 uses multiple DAWs (Ableton mostly, but I know he uses FL as well for whatever other reasons) if that accounts for anything. It all comes down to what you're comfortable with. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what program you used, it's the quality of the product you make.

Also, I will probably make something for this :ugeek:
I am here to see what you do and omg it's cute

Ableton is a lot like FL Studio, except it has a much better layout and everything works so much better. It really is about as improved from FL as the price difference is, so you really get what you pay for here.

I only know of a few people who use Fl. Kromestar, my favorite musician ever, uses it; besides that, it's pretty much just Skream and Going Quantum. Deadmau5 only really uses Ableton and Cubase. I don't think he makes any of the tracks he releases in FL. (He started with Nuendo in 1998, then moved to FL, and in 2005, just before he got famous, he switched to Ableton; he made <album title goes here> with Cubase.)

FL is the one with the most resources and the best native plug-ins. That's all it has that I'd actually use it for. Think of Ableton as an improved version of FL. It doesn't have all those annoying windows, and it only has one universal cursor that does everything. Duplicating patterns and sequences is also easier, and so is making return effects tracks.

If someone says one more thing about DAWs I will personally chops your legs off and feed you to SCP-682.
:3

So house music. Yeah. Deadmau5 n shit.

I have like 5 submissions so far :3
3 of those are still in my PMs, so if I haven't responded then don't worry, it's simply because I haven't had the time :3
Also, I will post a list of all the people who've submitted sometime before 10 days have passed (don't hold me to that, I guarantee I'll forget), so if you've submitted and don't see your name on it by then, feel free to shbmit again.

If we don't have enough submissions for a decent mix then I can see about extending the due date, depending on circumstances.

Just so you guys know, by the way, there is actually house music that is not deadmau5. I know, it's shocking, but deadmau5 is not the only house producer in the world.
