Matthew Mosier's Random Acoustic Guitar Riffs

Postby MatthewMosierMusic » 11 Aug 2012 02:27

So I often come up with random riffs that I think sound really cool, but i have no use for them. So I figured I'd post them here. Maybe y'all can use them.

Here's one I just made.

Yeah, I'll be randomly posting things here. If you like any of them, go ahead and use them. I'll try and post the key and BPM if I know them.

If you do use them, credit would be cool, but isn't necessary.

Heres another one. This one is more of a dissonant minor key acoustic intro. kinda like something you would find in a metallica intro. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/71719783/guitar%20sample%202.wav enjoy!

The reason it sounds like Metallica is because it basically is. E minor is a very popular key in the metal world and Emadd9 is the beginning chord of most Metallica ballads. The nice thing is there is so much you can do with it on a guitar, that it never seems to sound exactly the same.

Sweet Jesus, this is inspiring.

Seriously. I need to make something with this, like, right the hell now. I guess tomorrow morning will do.

Nice stuff, Matthew! Inspiring, too. :D

Here's what I came up with in about 20 minutes (pretty much just an intro):

Um.. I think the first link is broken. (I'm getting a Dropbox 404 error whenever I try and open it.) Second one works fine though, and sounds great!

Jimmy: for just 20 minutes, that's one heck of an intro. I'd love to see this continued. I played around with it on Sibelius for an hour or so but all I could come up with was this variation in B. It's not a very big contribution, but I hope you find it helpful.

I really like this idea of putting unfinished sketches and riffs out there for people to use. I've been kind of hoarding my collection of riffs to myself, but seeing how useful these were to everybody, I might post some of them if you're interested.
Enjoys creating ridiculous amounts of metal.

Anything should be able to play MIDI. :P (In fact, most DAWs tend to make you assign sounds to them in order to play them.)

Media Player? Winamp? VLC?
