<pony><album> The Undeserved Album

Postby colortwelve » 15 Aug 2012 17:31

Welp, it's been a long time coming. I've had my share of setbacks while putting this album together, and it didn't turn out quite as extravagant as my initial vision, but it's something, and I'm so tired of sitting on finished tracks.

Enjoy. And expect an EP with more remixes/alternate versions of some of these tracks :D

Taking a listen now. I'll write my thoughts as I listen.

Ascension has a really nice lo-fi feel. I kind of adore that tame whooping sound under the mix too. Good vocals too yesgood vocals. Coulda done with some more, I dunno, procession? Like a chorus effect or layered vocals at some points.
Streets of Manehatten is really good! Kyoga and Ibeabronyrapper are such talented musicians too, damn it must have been fun working with them!
Everfree is chillax as hell. I almost forgot what I was doing. I love the blippy delayed sound, reminds me of like, falling leaves. Or snow. Something wafting about. The whole song does actually, it's flowy. Damn the percussion is good too.
Phoenix Dance is so atmospheric. Like, this song has a PLACE in a movie or game, it sets mood so perfectly. And I must say your music is growing on me at an alarming rate at this point. But back to thoughts. The chords go so funky at some points oh my god I love it. Swamp! That's it! It feels like a big, dead swamp! Fantastic!
The 50th minute has what might be the most familiar chord progression I've ever heard. Reminds me a lot of something by Infected Mushroom (a group I think you'd enjoy). This one's a bit flat, no that that's bad, but it definitely feels backgroundy. Good video-game or running music. I'm sorry I skipped to the next track five minutes in. xD
The title of this track alone got me excited to hear it. The bass amuses me. It's like this lo-fi 'wawawawa' I like it. The claps are like these BURSTS of color too nice. Not much else to say beyond I like it.
LUNA. LUNA NOOOO. Oh lord I should have known from the title. Thanks for the laugh. What is that magical sound at 4:30 in Bananas whoa that's cool. It sounds like an army of chickens cool.
TRIPLETS.

That was a solid album. I think the highlight for me was Phoenix Dance. Adored the overall feel and sound pallet.

Could that possibly be my remix? :D

Anyway, I've listened to all the songs on the album, and the only one I have to say I didn't like was phoenix dance. Don't really know why dude, the progression just never really captured my interest. All the others are great, though.

Looked like he went in order, so I think he was referring to 'Kyoga Sleeps.'

Also, I agree with you on Phoenix Dance, it's easily my least favorite track on the album, a close second being 'The 50th Minute.' My ambitious project never seem to pan out exactly as I want them to

Ah, I didn't pay enough attention apparently. I don't mean to bash Matthew's guitar work, though, it was well done, the song's style just wasn't my thing, I guess.
