Anyway I don't want to discourage people from making a track for Pinkamena Party just because they might be intimidated by kick design / kick elitism. Just make some good hardcore shit, and while you're doing that, try doing some things to the kicks. Experiment! Have fun exploring the world of distorted kicks! That's what this is about!

(I just left suggestions/tips in my previous post... to help people if they're interested .__.)

But yeah, I guess if the intention of your track is to be silly... and it's actually funny at being silly... then I guess I'm ok with it too.

Even though I have no say in this at all, whatsoever... SHUT UP. D:

yeah you kind of came in like gangbusters with the kick elitism shtick and kinda derailed the fun of the project. I understand what you mean and the concept of making the drums your own and investing in creating them (something a lot of us can and should work on, myself included) but I'm getting really tired of the can't use samples, can't use presets, can't use nexus, can't step outside of a genre hardline that I'm seeing as more and more vocalized by some. Ultimately this is NON PROFESSIONAL music made for the love of making it and often about ponies. If you take the fun out of it it can ruin for everybody. I appreciate the professionalism of the community on elevating their craft and maybe some even going pro someday but let's not lose track of the hear-in now of our amateur craft.

By all means if you hear stuff in a submitted wip that could be better let's be helpful and be specific on what they can do. Positive criticism. What's good and works, what can and should be improved. That's one of the best part of balloon party was people showing wips to get better and making that a communal experience. If it's all negative from this project or you ask what someone is unable to do then people will tune out and do something else. Pinkamina may be grimdark but any project associated with doesn't have to take that attitude so let's make this fun (and something to learn from) even if the eventual music itself might not be (FUTA RAPE BLOOD AND PONIES).

Thanks Zovi for responding on this earlier and picking up on that and sorry if I had to echo your point. You explained it well and i think a fair project standard. ;)

Sorry man :( I came in like gangbusters too. My bad. You have my apology. Let's just make this fun, good, and a learning experience and a kick ass comp.

I heard there were a few tracks too dark for Balloon Party. Any of those guys approached to join us on the dark side of the force? Anyone reach out to Mirage and Foozogz (who'd be naturals at this)?

Yeah. Well personally I'm like this:
The kick should fit the track and it should be hardcore as balls. How you achieve it: Idc.

Taking your advice to heart, I got a free (FREE free, no pirating this time) TR-909 VST and put effects on the kick drum. Lemme tell you, you can get some great effects.

*look below*

I'm gonna have fun with this.

Hardcore? Let me just get on FL and create a suck ass song for this. Lol. I can try, but I've yet to attempt hardcore. Could be a new experience for me. I may or may not be on this. But I'd really like to be on something called Pinkamena Party, where gore is encouraged.

Someone do a Grimdark Miss Rarity song of course too. An elegant masochistic one. Mommy requested one.

Just a heads up if Zovi doesn't specify soon people could likely do 2 tracks so at some point. As long as we're clear that's ok (would be nice to find out early vs later) and the quality is still HIGH that should be fine to fill this project (could be 1 disc or 2or3 ). I'd rather we assist those that aren't making the cut currently to improve on their WIPs (if possible) rather than just discard them (unlike BP). I just hope those who apply take that approach to make a submission that appease the hardcore gods (or try until they do). :D
