Guys. Hold your pants for this crazy math.

Minecraft is a massive game. Approx 60 million blocks across. Each being a meter long, that world can hold over 7000 scale model earths.
Now minecraft is 8 year old technology.
Today, a little game called No Mans Sky is being made. And it's everything but little.
This game is about exploring a universe.
It has stars and planets just waiting to be discovered.
But how many solar systems does it have?
It has over 18 quintillion solar systems. And each one of those has at least 1 planet.
18 quintillion.
That's 18 followed by 18 zeros.
18,000,000,000,000,000,000
It's estimated that 50 billion people have ever lived.
That's less than .00000027% of the amount of planets this game has.
This game has enough planets for every human that has ever existed to have and call their own. Actually, over a few thousand for each person to "own"
Actually no. Over 1,000,000,000 to call their own.
This is insane. Each human ever can have over 1 billion solar systems.
And this technology is real. This actually exists guys.
You will never explored your entire game. Ever.
Even if every human that has ever existed played on the same map as you and helped you to try to discover every planet in the game, you will not discover them all.
Never.
Guys.
Mind blown.

not to shatter your bubble, but generating content like this is actually really easy. It's built by a mix of prerendered models (plants, animals, etc) and a simple algorithm that mixes them up to make them unique. With all the animals and plants alone that they were showcasing in their trailers I'm kinda surprised there aren't even more planets to explore.

Basically, NMS is an exercise in the sheer magnitude of factorials.

JK. My counselor said that my anger is triggered my self pity and envy for others because I haven't reached my full potential. I'm so worried about everyone else success that I just usually rage out on others for my mistakes. I'm still getting help and it's a long hard road. I just stay away from successful people from now on. Wish me luck

Very yes. There's a 4-year old track way at the bottom of my BandCamp that does that to me.

No. But it is still very common for me to stumble upon ancient projects that sound mindbogglingly good; I just don't feel like I wouldn't be able to do good stuff compared to what I did way back when. It really helps to not have a mind set on comparing my every movement.

Constantly. I've been going so into synthesis and sound design or the last year or two that I've forgotten how to write decent music entirely.
