By underground I meant really "underground" and "becoming established"
Basically anything under radio mainstream and yea
Like where I live, nobody knows virtual riot. So that's why I included him

once about a month ago I was complaining about how I was in a music contest that failed.
Well, it rose up again and was back on track.
And I got an email saying that I placed as a runner up.
Which is pretty flipp'n sweet.
And the prize is:
$100 USD
A Patch

Basically, music has been easily worth my time now. I am pretty pumped now. The only problem is: I submitted 3 songs and I have no clue which one they liked. derp

EDIT:
http://bronyaerospace.net/
So it was the song Candyland (at least now I know.)
I placed in top 4 (im assuming third place since I'm in the middle of positions 2-4)
I placed alongside Silva Hound and DJ Alez Android

First went to .... Capt. Fluffaton!!! congratulations

and I see a familiar name in the honorable mentions:
MyCutieMarkIsAGun
so good job to everyone who submitted. yea

Hrm. I'm on there.

Well, it's not really that bad. All the stuff that's there has been free if people want it free--I only put it on Bandcamp if people want to pay.

Not sure why you'd want it off that website, though. The quality is terrrrrrrrible.

i found myself on a few of them, but like it really doesnt matter.

I only had an issue with it because I was intending on selling the song they have. Which also, it's a private song. Nobody is even able to listen to it on any of my things (sound cloud/ YouTube / etc)
But I guess I really don't care too much. Because it's not like I would get a lot of money anyway.

The song of mine on there is actually one that Pinnacle tried to sell when I specifically asked them not to sell it. I could care less where my free music is downloaded from

That's actually the only reason that I would want to take it down.
My uncle long ago told me he'd just make a torrent with all his music in wav so others don't need to be shittin' bad quality rips of his work. "If I happen to get more people listen to my music, it'll happen anyways. So why not be ahead of them, with quality?"

Yeah, beating cruddy little websites like this is not really about taking them down, since that's like eradicating house flies. Just provide better quality downloads. It won't make them go away, but it'll draw listeners away from places like that.

Uhm, I do o3o...
I mean, sometimes I can only get something from such a site.

And sometimes I do go out of my way massively to get the music of a veeeery infamous producer off of a site like this, so yeah xD

Re: Official Discussion thread (for discussions)

Postby Bronies Are Cool » 12 Oct 2014 17:28

i am having a ton of fun adding random samples into my music and making them sound natural and blend with the music. I am doing a teeny tiny amount of vox in a song I am currently working on, but on another song I made recently, I used at least 5 samples that meshed nicely and smootly throughout the song. Which someone commented to me about how he liked the ambience that the samples made.
I like using them because they fill up frequency space. :3
here is an example song: https://soundcloud.com/noah-l-kriska/winter-crisp-20
there are about 4 water samples in the beginning and then also some bird samples. In the middle and towards the end was some police sirens samples I used.
I am going to continue to toot my horn a bit so I'll put it in a spoiler.
Spoiler toot:
I swear im not trying to be conceited, but I love this song. I had a decently good amount of fun making it. I liked how crisp the snare came out and how chill the song flow is. I also like the melody I made that comes in towards the end of the song. I think its lovely and something that would make a younger me very happy and feel-good. (the me that used to listen to melodic music) It kind of reminds me of the melodic music I used to listen to when i first became a brony. This stuff is trance-like and I love that kind of music.I think that the mastering and mixing on this song is also one of my bests. I had a difficult time getting the bass to be present, but not over enforcing. I managed it somehow kind of, in a way that makes me happy. its not just like a super-wall of bass, but instead a support wall for the higher melodies. i am basically glad about the result of this song.

and finally, here is a private link to the song I submitted to the brony areospace music contest if you want to hear it. Its not what it currently sounds like, but its pretty much the same. I only made a few minor changes that your probably would not really notice. https://soundcloud.com/noah-l-kriska/candlyland/s-pBTbq

Just a little feedback on the first song, I think it'd be a lot better if you played with the structure of he intro a little. Going straight to 4/4 kicks is a little boring imo, I like intros that're a little more explorative. It works just fine though, I just woulda done it differently.

Also song is nice good job

Aaaannddddd, ill actually do that. Seeing that nobody has downloaded it and it has less than 10 plays despite being up for a couple days, I see no problem in doing this. im making the song private. here is a link to the song if you wanted to listen to it and the original link does not work. https://soundcloud.com/noah-l-kriska/wi ... 20/s-KEfjF
biggles, you're a genius

(instead of making another post, im adding to this one.)
Spoiler im really happy guys:
its weird to think that when I joined this forum, I wasnt even able to produce music. And then after a while, I started trying and my music sounded like crap. and to think that my skills have improved as much as they have, its kind of weird to think about. Literally, you guys were the only people there from my very beginning. I feel like a child presenting something to his parents whenever I show you all my music, just because you all know (or at least had the opportunity to know) where I started at and where I have moved to.
literally, started at nothing and worked up to placing in music competitions. (well, just one, but still)
I just feel like a special person right now.
