Official Discussion Thread (Ghost Edit)

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

Fwiw, doing the Ice Bucket Challenge in California is punishable by fine, because they're in an "exceptional" drought, right now.

I'm gonna guess you've never experienced a severe drought. I have, and trust me when your city's reserves are at 6% you won't think fines for wasting water are 'really dumb'.

I can say that I have experienced a front before. But I cannot say that it was severe or that I stayed in it for a long amount of time.

If anything, I'm more familiar with over precipitation as last years flooding had quite the effect where I live. And the damage is still here

Where I live in Oz (Central Coast), water restrictions got to about Stage 3, and Gosford (which is pretty close to where I live) reached Stage 4 at some point. That's probably nothing compared to what your area went to. Going from your profile (Toowoomba?) and Wikipidea (lol), Toowomba/Brisbanes highest water restrictions were stage 6. That's awful.

Melbourne got to like 5 I think and was at 3a at one point... But I get what your saying the drought it Cali is really damn bad... I guess the people nominated will just have to donate instead

Currently in the car back home from the academy studio I'll be doing my study into producer/sound-engineer at (starting October 6th :D ).
There was a public recording session of singer-songwriter Paul Freeman. While all people sat in the room where Paul was playing, I was behind the glass with my to-be teacher and other dudes who helped, just watching, learning, applying little bits of my own knowledge and having the best kind of cheesy fun that you just can't have on the internet. This is what I've missed in my life.

It was really damn fun and also pretty educational :D

So the furry forum seems kind of accepting of me pretty quick. I already kind of feel like im a normal user there already.

I have spiked a tiny amount of interest there about music responding to someone who asked if anyone makes music and then I made a thread about DAWs.

I also had made a comment to someone who described himself/herself as shy and timid and not assertive. which reminded me instantly of fluttershy and so yea.
furries seem kind of cool

Im actually quite liking that other forum. I have found another brony on there (who identifies as a pony fursona)
anyway, I might get my own fursona. which will just be a pony OC of me. lol "weird" because I claim to not be a furry

maybe they will suck me in

Ok. Here is a question I have based in what the furries are saying.
Basically, many of them consider bronies to be furries.
It's a double edged sword to me.
I'd say that only some are furries.
Because I'm starting to see that furry is kind of a broad spectrum.
Like, they say that the ponies have the humanistic qualities like the fursonas. And bronies who enjoy that about the ponies can be called a furry.
Or... People who draw the ponies on anthropomorphic form are also considered furry.
Because a furry is someone who like anthropomorphic art like the ponies.

So, are a lot of us bronies really also unintentionally furry?

No, because "Brony" and "Furry" are just titles. You are not a brony unless you call yourself one. Same goes with furries.

They may be titles but they have meanings.
Like, "dog" isn't just a title. You can't say that your pug isn't a dog because you don't want to call it that. Your pug fits the definition description of being a dog, so it's a dog.

Likewise I think applies to bronies and furries. If you like mlp, you are a brony. Regardless of if you want to associate with other bronies or the cloppers. And furries are people who like anthropomorphic art, not just those who have fursonas or dress as a furry character.

I like mlp so I'm a brony. I can't deny that.
Mlp has anthropomorphic characters.
So that kind of puts me under the "furry" iron curtain.
As well as anyone else who likes mlp and the characters. Right?

I've always defined "furry" to be someone who identifies in some way (emotionally, spiritually, sexually, what have you) as an animal which is not a human. They feel a dysphoria with certain aspects of their being which are irreversibly human. Some bronies feel this, certainly, and if they so designated themselves, would qualify as furries. However, the majority of bronies just like MLP, and have no horse-like identity whatsoever, so calling them furries is really quite a misnomer.

Does that mean people who just like disney or any other thing with anthromorphic characters are also a part of the "furry community?"

Like, I like Lion king as much as the next guy, but that doesnt really mean I wanna walk around in a neongreen fursuit or whatever it is furries do.
