So the recording went pretty well for our first ever try. We only managed to get the drums down, but the drummer is really good and the band was happy with it, so today I'm gonna clean up the drums we got, bounce them out to a wav and next friday we'll have another session and the rest of the band can play along to that.
Gotta say though, the drums came out super friggin nice, all I'll really need to do is EQ them a bit and maybe do some compression and gating.
I'm not here anymore, but if you want you can still just call me Mr. BigBagelBoggle!

I hate gating drums because I think it removes a lot of the feel from the drums

Makes mixing about 100% easier though. How can you compress if you haven't gated? The only time I would consider not gating would be overheads or Glyn Johns mic positioning.

I made simple program to help people who don't know very much about music theory and have problems with different scales. It prints all notes in specified scale and makes MIDI-file from them. It's currently in beta, and you can get it
here. Feedback and other ideas are welcome.

I think this post would work better as it's own thread where it won't be lost amongst other posts

I agree with that. However, it can make for good conversation. :)
But , that conversation could be über long so it would be a good idea to make a thread for that. Ö

Just to change topic...
Did you know "Swag" can refer to pony stuff bought at conventions?
I always saw it as an abstract noun and/or adjective. I was pretty surprised when some ppl where talking about how much swag they had bought :I

My school used the word "swag" for things that related to colleges. "College swag" they called it. They gave out college swag in the form of t-shirts and posters and jackets. Etched
Pony swag would be the pony merch.

Shakespeare is the one who invented that word.
Well, he invented the word "swagger" which is where "swag" is derived from.
So , you are not even able to kill the one who invented that word. Because, he is already dead.
But I don't see why you would wanna kill him.

Apparently a brony got on this called Wipeout which is cool. He said "come rainbow, show em a little dash", and gave the host a vinyl scratch plush.

Everyone knows that if you are in wipeout, you have to be overly-enthusiastic about something for the camera. It makes for interesting tv.
Although, American ninja warrior is a way cooler course than wipeout.

So my friend at uni did some sound design for an indy game and he has about a gigabyte of samples of seal noises (as in actual seals) left over from it. So for our electronic music class we have to use kontakt to sample some stuff, so we're distributing the samples among the class and we're all gonna use seal samples just to mess with our lecturer when he goes to mark the submissions.
Sealstorm 2014 is go.

So would anyone be interested in a remix contest? I want to do a remix contest with a new track, and the prize would be pizza. I will literally contact a pizza place near the winner and buy a pizza of the winners choosing!.. or something like that, I might send monay so you can buy a pizza your self if the pizza place doesn't like my idea.
Anyway, just wondering, you think that's even possible? I mean... I don't know how pizza delivery work around the world. :I
