People calling themselves musicians becoming overly specific about song genres. Most people listening to modern music think of things like moomba as advanced rap, and eurobeat as some form of disco, and anything with wobbles as dubstep. It's fine everyone. Genre's really don't matter that much. It would be exactly like me telling you your classical piece is a passacaglia and not a chaconne or me worrying over your ternary form.

Does it matter? not to most people.

I also would have a hard time believing you wouldn't get irritated at people saying "LOL passacaglia? Is that some kind of pasta?" or beginning to sing the Chacarron song whenever they see "chaconne."

But you know what? While this is indeed a fandom of a show called Friendship is Magic, it's still a fandom of a show, and it's still a fandom. Just because people like the show doesn't obligate them to anything else, and while that does provide this fandom with wonderful diversity, at the same time it unfortunately results in clashes of opinions and beliefs. You've just got to do your best to take the lumps with the good and practice what you preach, and hope others will follow by example.

JSynth wrote:- When people call well known bronies "celebrities."

Expand this to anyone famous via the Internet in general, like say, Chuggaaconroy, or just about every Let's Player out there. They aren't really celebrities in the sense that they are "celebrated" by a very small demographic compared to actual celebrities.

I also think your real gripe is that popular bronies are venerated to the point that people bend backwards to please them, more than just calling them "celebrities." But I could be wrong.

When people take my music literally and start lashing out, telling me to calm down and "it's just a show"

And this is just music! I'm making aggressive stompy beats with dark themes and angry lyrics, inspired by a show about pastel equines living in friendship and harmony. For god's sake, my first song was titled "I Watch it for the Plot"
I sample Ghostbusters!

Chill out...

ANYBODY WHO PUTS A PICTURE OF A SCANTLY CLAD WOMAN ON THEIR ALBUM OR SONG ART, VIDEO, ETC. Jesus Christ. If you make a song about porn or sex in some way, fine, whatever, do that. It's acceptable then, as long as it fits and isn't just some random model you placed on there because sexy. But if you make a mix, or song... And then put a picture of a half naked girl holding a pair of headphones over her breast looking at the camera all sexy, THAT DOES NOTHING FOR THE SONG, FUCKING ATTENTION WHORE. JUST GO AND ADD A PIECE OF DUBSTEP FANART OR SOME SHIT LIKE THAT, THE HALF NAKED LADY DOESN'T MAKE ME WANT TO BECOME YOUR NEXT FAN, AND IT DOESN'T FOR THE NEXT PERSON EITHER, UNLESS THAT PERSON HAPPENS TO BE A 12 YEAR OLD PREPUBESCENT BOY.

Yeah. It just upsets me when I see the fandom break down into a huge fight over something like a blog.

Fucking no.

(Ain't it so that speeding something up causes raised pitch? As in, if something's sped up, but has same pitch, isn't it downpitched?)

SO MUCH THIS Nightcore tends to frustrate me soooooooooooo much.

- Harsh Noise. Addictive as fuck and both mentally and physically destructive.

Speeding up a sound will raise the pitch, though there are many programs that will speed up a sound without changing the pitch. The process can be destructive though.

One thing though.
DJ Pon-3's first few Prog (Psy) Trance, Chillstep and Tribal Techno tracks are genius.

DJ intros. I mean, I get it, but as a listener I don't want to have to skip through a minute of the track before the track actually starts. Especially when I'm biking or something and I can't just dick around with the MP3 player all the time.

Then I offer you my thanks. Good to know some DJs out there don't put up with that shit.

So, I didn't want to say anything because I haven't DJed enough to really know what I'm talking about, but are DJ intros even necessary at all? In my brief experience with it, it really didn't seem difficult to transition without them. Not if you know what you're doing or know the songs at all, anyway, which is kind of what you're there for since you're DJing and all.

Oh is that another reason for 'em? I think my lack of experience in da clubz is showing, but I'd always heard that they were merely used to match up different songs to one another.

So please stahp being so conceited annoying DJs, then, I guess.

I guess I find dropping the bass as being the only thing a dj should do at a gig annoying. Most of that music while briefly fun can be terribly annoying when its played for hours by various dj's just to stroke the crowd.

Now that this has turned into the 'DJ' pet peeves thread here's one I used to get a lot...

Me playing some older progressive house stuff when someone comes to the booth and asks for some 'good dubstep' and then proceeds to request songs that aren't dubstep (The guy requested Avicii and other like artists)...

This was when skirllex was all anyone wanted in my city.
