Welcome To The Wastelands

Postby Plaaay » 28 Dec 2011 10:15

First of all, hi everyone! I felt the urge to register here some minutes ago (and after that I felt the urge to drink some more tea ... uh ...), so here's my first post.

And here you go: http://soundcloud.com/plaaay/welcome-to-the-wastelands

Critique please!

Also, I do realize that I pretty much suck at singing. No need to point that out. However, since there's no one around where I come from with some decent singing skills, if you feel like replacing my vocals on this one, please tell me! I'd be glad to have a decent singer for my shizz.

lol the beat and instruments sound good. its just kinda the vocals that bug me. they sound kinda mono. i had this same problem to when i tried to do a rap. it was sad. very. but i used a chorus effect and it sounded a bit better but not much. It might just be me but i think vocals are really really really REALLY hard to perfect. thats why i usually don't do em. maybe i will later on but not now.

Even though Metal's not really my thing I can give you some pointers. You sing somewhat softly throughout the whole song, which sounds good for the verses but takes some of the power out of the chorus. When the music gets harder, it's a good idea to sing louder (and if you can, up an octave) to match the hardness of the rest of the music. Also, try and keep a good focus on what key you're in when singing.

Otherwise, this isn't too bad I think.

Same here XD
But since I have no one else to sing I'll have to do it. Maybe I'll get better at it eventually ^^

there's a lot of different tricks you can try. double track different vocal takes, maybe a little delay here and there, maybe some glitch (dblue) or additional effects if you want to. as a whole though this is good though but as you said the vocals need some extra attention (but certainly aren't awful).
