How much Prog do I need?
MOAR.
Let's start with this beauty. Close to the Edge was my first exposure to prog rock, and it still sticks out in my mind as quite possibly the greatest album ever. Listen to it. Seriously, this is a great starting place for the genre if you're unfamiliar with it, or as a starting place for Yes, or just as an album to listen to if you happen to like music.
Siberian Khatru... Well, just listen to those chords, those melodies, those rhythms. This song is quite unlike any other ever written, very distinctive, in my opinion. It's just beautiful. This may not be archetypal prog rock (because prog rock is an EXTREMELY varied genre to begin with) but this is just a delicious song that everyone should listen to and try to appreciate.
Kicking off this thread with some Yes. But there's a lot of prog out there I know I haven't even heard of, and there are some bands out there I'm interested in that some of you can help introduce me to! Specifically these are Tool, Karnivool, and Dream Theater.
Yep, let's do a prog thread!
