I like Largo, Allegro con Fuoco, and Adagio Sostenuto.

Italian names are so much better than stupid numbers :P

But Italian names are so... imprecise.

I'd much rather say, for example, 133 BPM.

Not so much imprecise as artistic. It leaves room for interpretation; especially when being played con Rubito

For precise bpm's: 60, 92, 140, 275

For live or acoustic music, I can understand. But it's too imprecise for EDM and electronic music in general.

Yeah, its one of those things where it really depends on what music you're playing.

Baroque is like "Follow the tempo you little ass oh wait metronomes haven't been invented yet never mind just don't do crazy shit"
Classic: Tempos are nice, here are some nice approximates; lets make some music.
Romantic: Whats a tempo? Have some Rubato
Modern Electronic: NUMBERS! FOLLOW THE NUMBERS!

If I'm playing something acoustic, I usually don't set a specific tempo, just a general speed or "feel" of the piece.

Presto. Or better yet, prestissimo. Showcase your lightning-quick digits!

Andante's always a good choice for a generic waltz or some other common meter.
I'm always half-asleep, and I hate dubstep.
Also, you know that other, way more awesome Nomnom guy who shows up on EQD sometimes? THAT PERSON IS NOT ME.
We just happen to have similar pseudonyms.

Except most of us are producers, and we can't enter "Allegretto" into our DAW.

Recently, I've been having some fun with the 100 - 115 bpm range. I just love how a simple little half time drum pattern with a couple hats sounds so much more..well, peppy in that range. Plus, freakin' moommbahton/core/whatever :D

Depends on the tune.
Usually I put them in intervals of 10 (even though I dont like it its easier to remember those numbers)
When I have tempochanges It usually ends up on some random integer caus FL automationclips :C

One that I love too much is 81 bpm, perfect when you just want a heavy rolling beat with huge overly bassy kicks. Why 81? Well 80 was just a bit to slow.

u wot m8?

Anything lower than 130 but higher than 115 sounds so stale to me, especially 120. One beat per half second? Snooooooooore.

But, that's just my nitpicking opinion.

Or then you have the really fun things like 122 and 61. 120 or 60 fit with the natural rhythm of the heart, and will lead almost into a "lull" when you have 61 or 122, it seems to be much faster then it is, because its actually causing your heart rate to speed up slightly.

First off I'd like to point out that everybody dose not have the same pulse. Depending on your fitness you can have as low as 50 if your a very fit athlete or as high as 80 if your not very fit (I don't know the exact numbers btw).

That would explain why I like 81 bpm... I have an unusually high heart rate for being as fit as I am, around 80 bpm (and I am very fit btw, gotta get that checked). That dose kinda fit with that theory, dosen't it?

Normal pulse is 60-100 BPM if you're over 10 years old, which I assume you are. If you're a well-trained athlete a normal pulse would be 40-60 bpm.

Okay, probably should have said "average". I actually have a lower than normal heart rate, so it doesn't work with everyone, but 60bpm is a pretty good approximation.
