Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. Also, sound design is a huge problem for me, synthesis makes no sense at all to me D:.

If anyone can figure out what genre this is, please tell me, cause I have no clue. :D

OK, I just listened to a few of his songs again, and I have to agree.

With all the WIPs I have going at the moment, I'm starting to think my biggest weakness is finishing things.

I feel this may bring shame to my name, but none of my tracks are actually mastered, or even very well mixed.

I don't know anything about compression and only very minimal on EQing.

I would say form, but that is completely ignoring the fact that I can't master or mix myself out of a cardboard box.

I can't master for shit. I guess my mixing is low average, but can get me by. I just make sure my mix doesn't sound muddy and cluttered.

I'm too much of a perfectionist when it comes to my vocals and the way the finished product is mixed.

And I think I tend to turn the bass up a little bit too loud.

That and I'm still not very good.

I'll just make that skills... transitions, song structure, chord progression... More notably, I've never used compression, which apparently is really, really, really bad or something. I mean it sounds fine to me, but... And mastering I really don't have the slightest clue on.

Also, my computer sucks right now, which is a pain. Not that that counts as a skill.

Still melodies.
Also mixing.
Also finishing collabs.
Also ambient.
Also using a variety of drum samples.
Also dubstep.

I can't make melodies to save my life. Sure, I can make a sexy lead melody, but a fitting verse melody, or an intro melody, or heck, even a backing arp... I've done 4 years of music theory - I should be able to do this stuff!

Another thing I'm bad at is finding simple, elegant mixing techniques. I mix very well, but I overcomplicate everything to the point where I almost ruin the track.

Hehe, I know that feel bro. When you got so many automation tracks and things going on you don't even want to begin.

My weakest skill has to be in over-complicating the composition process. I tend to side-chain, EQ, automate, and do many other things while composing the song, but it always ends up slowing the overall process, and I typically end up removing and redoing all my side-chains and EQ anyway during the mixing.

Basically, a helluva waste of time.

I can only wish I was in your guys' positions. My mixing is so horrendously basic that it makes Microsoft paint-made squares cringe.

I can actually make pretty decent melodies myself, and I can generally make decent drum patterns, use effects well, etc., even making semi-decent dubstep (you can see my latest song, a VIP, for an example).

As for EQing, mixing, and mastering? SLAP MAXIMUS AND A LIMITER ON THE MASTER WITHOUT CHANGING ANY SETTINGS IT'LL MAKE EVERYTHING SOUND GOOD

Melodies i can do decent at but i struggle sometimes. I kind of have mixing down while i have no idea what im doing when it comes to eqing. Plus i need to start using less presets and actually make something proffesional for once.

Also trying anything swingy is just too difficult because i have no clue and dare not try on ableton (tho i could).

My weaknesses vary alot of times because i try to be diverse. In this case, i can't find a single tut that doesn't use things i don't have. (triple negative)
Lets make some music whether its trance, dnb, ambient, or something dark, I CAN DO IT :D

2. Complexity.

There is no need to make your music complex if you don't have to IMO. I hate to self-promote, but if you listen to some of my stuff, (Like my newest remix of Evdog) it's horrendously minimal.

Structure. I have issues with structure and consistency. I also have problems with variation. Like, I'll have a good idea in my head how to start it out a certain way, but I have problems trying to build on that in the same way, and keep it in a certain style.

Above all, I'm worse at structure.

Deadlines are my weakness. If you give me all the time in the world, nothing will get done, because I'm lazy. If you give me a deadline, I'll put off work until either crunch time, or I'll just keep a backlog of random shit to release later. It's not that I don't want to do it, it's just that I have an aversion to anything resembling being productive. In fact, the only time it seems that shit gets done music-wise is when I'm doing it to avoid doing something else. So yeah, tommorow I have a shit ton of calculus to do. And that's getting sidelined for music.

And RWV is tommorow. And I have a song pretty much done, all it needs is mixing. And it's crunch time, and at least it means shit is getting done. But then I have to do some rap collab thing for CrashDistortion, which is also almost done, just need to write a part to replace for someone else who was lazy, to a beat I don't have, and I might need to rewrite what I already have, because now I can do it without the rules that existed before. Well, I said I'd get it done by the end of the week. Looks like that's happening one way or another.

I'm actually a great collab partner, just tell me you want something tommorow.
Well, I guess all my projects are crunch time projects, and it's been working out pretty ok, so I guess it's not that big of a problem.
