So what do you guys think of my new compo album?
It's a homage. To all of you. You guys have been wonderful. I would have never gotten nearly as proficient in music without your guidance, support and friendship.. I'd like to say thanks to the4thimpulse for teaching me stuff when I was making my BP track, and even though it didn't make it, his guidance helped me overall become a better musician. And to everyone else, you've given me wonderful critical advice, and have expanded my knowledge of music through your different opinions and experiences.

This is my first foray into a full album (do compos count?), and I'd like your thoughts on it.

It's pretty good man. I love that it definitely uses some samples, some humor in the music, has a different feel then a lot of brony music (a little darker in a lot of places), and has a good flow as an album from track to track. Not sure why your solo album is on colortwelve's page and i think the album art could have been a little nicer but besides that I'm glad you put it out. Definitely a coherent album rather a pish-posh of unrelated tracks. :)

Thanks! The reason is that colortwelve and I share that page, and it uses my paypal. So yeah, that's why it's technically his page but not really. Should try to fix that later, either change the name or make colortwelve get his own paypal. Butfor right now, it's a shared page, for various reasons.

So, I'm gonna go turn around and do what someone decided to do on my album thread, and do a track-by-track review of it. So here we go:

A Clockwork Derpy - Nice landing a collab with Rina-chan, even though her voice acting is slightly cheesy here. Musically, it doesn't have a ton going on, but I realize that it's an intro track, and it works as that.

Zecora's Rage - Best. Intro sample. Ever. The drum warps are a tad jarring, but once it gets into the 'real' song, it's all good. You and your trademark audio murder. It can take some getting used to, but this is a good track to introduce it with. Also, that bit with the high-up synth is completely ridiculous.

No Sunshine Allowed Ever - Oh God yes. I'm gonna go ahead and call this your best track. The bass in the intro is harsh enough to be you, but it's really held back, and sounds really nice with the vocals and pads. The drop doesn't have a ton going on until the synth kicks in, but that doesn't really take anything away from the track. However, the bit at 2:15 makes no sense in the context of the song. In the context of the album, it works as a precursor to the next track, but it strikes me as a bit odd when taking this song on its own. Great outro, though :D

Fluttershy and Photo Finish Steal a Jet - FLOOTERSHAI! I think I can get away with calling this one your most Renard-sounding track on the album; whatever that means is really a matter of taste though. What I do really like is the bit where you have house plucks and dubstep bass trading. And I do like that airplane synth too.

Discord and Twilight Sparkle Have a Delightful Conversation - Dem strings. This is a very nice intro. This is a pretty strong track overall, manages to have an interesting structure without meandering all over the place, and the bass is very well-made for the electro house this one ends up sounding like. Nice one.

Russian Finn and Jake Get Invaded by Ponies From the Crystal Dimension - What a title. One thing I'll point out is that the sample could probably be a bit nicer in terms of quality, but I realize that this was you with your phone in Russia, so I'll pick my battles. I like the transition to the chill section, especially with that sample put in front of it. The white noise gets a little distracting, though. Outro gets a little wandery, but ends up in a good place for the fade-out. Not bad.

Rarity's Workshop - What? I don't remember this one. Let's have a listen... And... Wow, this sounds like your spin on Feed Me - a nice combination of harsh basses and clean, high synths. And it has a pretty standard dubstep structure, too. A pretty good track, but probably not one I'll remember.

10,000 Feet in the Air - Oh my, acoustic guitar? This really is going interesting places! Okay, a lo-fi synth. Oh God, what did you do to your voice? This is cool, but... I dunno. It's definitely different. I'm wondering if maybe this would've gone better on a separate release, maybe with a couple other mellow tracks? Because this sounds kind of like Sci with your voice on it. So yeah, it's really good, but I'm not sure how well it fits on the album.

Flight of the Night Queen - Nice piano intro... Yeah, I remember this one. Way back when, Balloon Party, all that. And this is a pretty good one. I like the initial bass, right at the drop, and the arpy synths. The bass at 2:14 sounds too much like a noise generator, though. But overall, it's pretty nice.

Rainbow Dash Fucks Somepony in the Ass - obby

Overall, this is a pretty solid album in its own context. It's definitely different from a lot of brony music. In terms of spreading the word about it based solely on its merit, definitely. People should be hearing this.

Ya hear that? Go get this album.

:) You're music is really interesting, and actually inspires me to be a little more energetic with my shit! Totally a great album, even the more chill-side to it. Def. diggin' this.
