I'm just going to release my wip now since I have no idea.
the level mixing sucks so far, i'm bad at mixdowns
Got a good idea of how I'm going to make this "clever" and say something about the community (regardless of how rarely I'm on here, sorry) I hope people are taking what circuitfry said to heart. It's hard to tell with a WIP you know? It's a great Idea and I want to see how other people (or ponies) show it.
have some Dark psytrance

I agree with this in so many ways. I don't know where to draw the line for 'big name', but I'm assuming I'm not one of them, and yes, it does feel like the smaller people are getting a tad overlooked.Decmaster IX wrote:Hey, if anypony is reading this that runs the Facebook page:
I think that some of the lesser known artists need some recognition here. I know that the reason that people are looking forward to this is because of the big artists, but I'm seeing a lot of teasers here that haven't been put up on the Facebook page. I know that there isn't room for all the teasers, and I have no intention of telling ANYPONY how to run things, but I feel like a lot of artists joined this project to get known by producing some awesome music, and a lot are missing the recognition they deserve. Everypony put in a lot of effort into their tracks, and a lot of them aren't getting heard by the general masses of our fans. Which, I personally believe, is against the message of this program. This is about going all out and having a good time, while a lot of us musicians are spending too much time in the background. Opening acts for the main event, if you will.
I mean, some of these teasers have 9 views. 9 VIEWS. Don't you think that these are the people who need the most recognition, not the other artist who people will find just because they are themselves and are already well known?
I just believe that some of us were using this to get known, because, let's face it, it's rather hard this far into the game, and we're watching as our dreams and ambitions aren't getting recognized. There are a lot of good musicians that are being overshadowed by the big names.
I'm not sure if I speak for other artists or not, but I'm sure some of you must have the same feelings that I feel, right? No one likes to be hidden. Everyone deserves recognition.
Thank you for your time, and I hope I don't offend anyone.
I agree wholly with this, but I think that Aussie Asher needs to be told about these previews, or else they probably won't show up. Remember, there's not a big preview reveal soon, but I'm sure one or two will be previewed every week or so. I'd contact Aussie first.PonE-Sharp wrote:I agree with this in so many ways. I just find it entirely frustrating because "my hand could not fancy the picture of my mind" (Jane Eyre). Basically, I can never quite get that "punch" that most hard songs have, then end up getting mad and move the .flp file to my "LolwutdidIjustmake" folder (Hint: Anything close to dubstep resides there ;D)
So, wat do? Is spending hours of work on a genre/style that is a complete mystery to me a good idea? Or maybe I'm missing the point?

Mindsweeper wrote:I would argue that "hard" music in general is very difficult for a newbie, whether or not it's musically simple, because it relies on being heavy, and heaviness is often acheived through technical funkery rather than musical funkery.
Also, don't just turn stuff up, learn to use that compressor.

Honestly, I gave this song my all. 110%. Really I did.
And besides, I have a Metapod. If my track really isn't HARD enough, I'll just have him use HARDEN! It's the perfect plan I say!

Honestly this album wasn't made so the people who have never made music before can have an album release in their firts few months of producing. No one I know has vener been good in their own eyes when the first started. My best advice is stop worrying about finishing something or the album and instead learning all you can about production and practicing it it like one would a guitar or piano. If you 'despise' making music so much then I have to ask why do you keep tring? If you need help there are a lot of great people on the forums all who would love to help but you would need to be more specific on the problem your facing.
Spening hours of work on someting you dont know well when your first starting is not a good idea, stick to what you know and get the foundations down then keep building up.
