PINKAMENA PARTY 6: RARITY'S M.M.M.M. MUSICAL!

Postby Supersaw Hoover » 17 May 2018 18:43

"The Great and Powerful Trixie loves your script and wants to stage a production starring The Great and Powerful Trixie! And you, too."

These were the words that set this all off. Rarity had just written her first musical, a dramatic theatrical masterpiece that seemed to not enthuse any of her friends. She finally brought it to Maud Pie in an act of desperation, who directed her coolly to Trixie ("It seems like her kind of thing"). And Maud was right, for Trixie started up the production in a whirlwind.

During production, however, Trixie and Rarity started to get into frequent arguments and even fights about the musical, rewriting entire parts, burning pages, and engaging in drunken hard cider binges where entire songs were written in some unknown mess of collaboration.

Finally, after a one-week bender where they rewrote the entire script from scratch, it was time for the opening show. After vomiting a little backstage, The Great and Powerful Trixie announced that the show was about to start, and Rarity wobbled into position for the opening number...

Excitement! Drama! Comedy! Tragedy! It's Pinkamena Party's Rarity album!

Welcome, darlings, to the traditional MLR thread for the

PINKAMENA PARTY 6
CALL FOR ENTRIES

and this time, we're putting on quite a show.

This will take some explaining, so put your mane and tail in some curlers and read on.

WE'RE MAKING A MUSICAL THE WRONG WAY

The basic theme for this Pinkamena Party album is drama!, the usual hard-and-crazy music with the added flair of showtunes / musical theatre, skits, sweeping and dynamic music, LONG SONGS, and conceptual tracks in general.

But it doesn't stop there.

No, this time we're really getting crazy, because we are actually making a musical. Here's how we're doing this:

1. Each track should be in some way inspired by the concept of "Trixie and Rarity have co-produced/written a ridiculous melodramatic musical and chaos ensues." You may interpret this however you wish, though we encourage collaboration between tracks for shared motifs and attempts at stringing some plots together. We also encourage killing Rarity in your song, though it is not required (she'll get better, probably). Dave suggested that last bit, take it up with him.

2. Once we have all the tracks, we will organize all of them into the most coherent story possible. At this point, we will tweak or rewrite track titles to form a basic narrative to follow. If you are uncomfortable with us taking creative liberty with your track's title, MENTION THAT IN YOUR SUBMISSION EMAIL. And if you'd prefer to work with us on it, mention that, too.

Seems simple enough, right?

ACCEPTED GENRES

We're looking for overly dramatic (absurdity is key) musical numbers for this musical, but remember, we're still a *core compliation series!

Please try to keep the tracks vaguely appropriate to an album of the following genres:
- hardcore techno
- frenchcore
- industrial hardcore
- schranz
- breakcore
- speedcore
- gabber
- splittercore / extratone
- hardcore punk
- powerviolence
- noise of all sorts
...and anything else that would feel at home with these!

Content can be NSFW but, as usual, cannot include overt sexism, racism, transphobia, or any other nonsense that would be hurtful to people in that way. Otherwise, get amped up on sex, gore, and violence as much as you want! Help us make this musical completely bonkers!

DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION:

The deadline for submissions is JULY 30TH. Please direct your submissions to [email protected] in lossless WAV format!

You may submit multiple entries, but we may only choose "the best ones" if you send us a ton, even if they're all good, because y'know, fairness.

Let's get to writing this mad musical!

After botching (and deciding to not toss in) the halloween-christmas one, and missing the new year's one due to time shenanigans, i'm happy about the theme of this... so much possibilities. :3

What, electro swing can't be mixed with gabber, shranz and extratone? hold my cider...
