I thought it was modeled after the appearance of an acoustic guitar.

It's a funny instrument anyway. The body roughly resembles a Paula (these do come in sunburst), the headstock is taken from a Fender Jazz Bass.

I can see lots of Gibson bodies all over the movie. Both Trixie and Sunset Shimmer play Flying Vs, and I think I recall having seen an Explorer wannabe somewhere.

Rarity's AX-Synth and the RK-100S which had just hit the market when it appeared in that short aren't too far off, though.

it looks to be more modeled on a gretsch as well. how ever if you look at the original short you can tell its a paulie bass with a pbass neck.
