Soulless Afternoons 2: Iapetus has released!!!

Judges sheet

THERE IS A WEBSITE FOR THIS

HERE IS THE MLR THREAD AND THE ALBUM OF THE FIRST SOULLESS AFTERNOONS

Here is more info and a simple point form explanation here in this doc so u dont have to read all of this ayyy

The concept we're going for in the album is to get a psychedelic space-like feel, or some literally out-of-this-world chillout style of music. The easiest way is to imagine yourself on the moon Iapetus and try to make a chillout song based off of that (best if it's more darker/softer instead of upbeat). Regardless, it is meant to be chill son.

The album's main genre's focus this time is:
IDM (chillout idm such as o'er the flood by goreshit)
liquid/soft EDM (if you go this way it's best if u pull a chillout version of fractal or something (y))
acoustic-electronic hybrids (such as downtempo, trip-hop, e.t.c.)
or any genres listed in the doc

There are examples in the second page of the document if u want some examples tbh

FAQ is in the document and will be bigger as more questions come in or something.

ALSO THERE'S NOW A SOUNDCLOUD GROUP WHERE YOU CAN POST WIPS AND SUCH IN (THIS IS RECOMMENDED, NOT MANDATORY.)

AND ALSO A FACEBOOK PAGE TOO

THE MAIN PEEPS THIS ROUND:
VINXIS (host)
Officebats (co-host)
Jökull (Media management)
Mahsio (general contributor)
Emeskey (track distributor)
CDPP (going to try album mastering and see how it works)
Spikey Wikey (judges co-ordinator)

Judges: Spikey Wikey, VINXIS, CDPP, jokull

Deadline: Passed

Submission link: http://goo.gl/XnwxV2

Judge review sheet: http://goo.gl/IBAAzs

Release date: Feb.15

All money is going to go to the Your Siblings charity again (Y)

Also there's a skype group chat which is the same one as before but yea add me if u aint there: vinxis1
or add officebats: mcfan23

First things first. Holy crap that album art is amazing.

Okay. I am so doing this.
Deep Techno you say? Hmm.

For the sake of getting questions dished out quick, have some:
Are there limitations to how long our track can be?
Will there be a CD of this album like with the first edition (and why didn't you link it on Bandcamp, let alone put it on Bandcamp)?
How many submissions can we send in once we can?
Are we allowed to make our finished track(s) public before the album release? If not, is there a limit to how long our WiPs/teasers may be?
Is there a Soundcloud group for WiPs/teasers?

Thank you!

To answer your questions:
1. Yes; the max is 10 minutes.
2. There will be a CD; unfortunately, things weren't set up in a way last time where the CD could be available on Bandcamp.
3. You're allowed 2 submissions.
4. No, and not yet; we plan on setting one up, though.

Ayy lmao

Ill try to do something more than an improv this time lo

And I agree, that album art is incredible, I think it's the same font as the Gravity promo material too which is neat

Seeing as there is a mastering person, do you want submissions at a certain peak db?

i shallg et u an answer to that once cedpipe tells me m809

EDIT: cdpp said "in that case peak db doesn’t really matter (though probably -2db preferred), also just make sure the mix doesn’t go below -14 RMS"

to get you all back up on track as to what has happened since

there's now 4 judges, not 5

THERE IS A Soundcloud group now, you can find it on the google doc's first page
There is also a facebook page now... you can find it on the google doc's first page
this isn't pony-based (to remind you again) so it's encourage if you don't give pony songs in for this

still 2 track limit each

dont submit a song already released
you can use your SA2 song for other things after SA2 is released though

e.t.c.

oklol

Just twelve days...
Welp, I don't know if I got something for this. Not something that I can submit just yet anyways.

Maybe I could do some stresstest sessions on a Deep Techno track that's been laying around in my drawers along with basically every project of mine ever.

Is it cool if I pick up this project that I ditched like...2 years ago. Also is it appropriate for this album?

Been meaning to finish this for a long time. It's a WIP, yet it has the most views on my soundcloud. Surely I'm on to something?

I had completely forgotten about this but I've thrown something together in the past week and am submitting now.
it's pretty much just an improv with stuff added to it but it came out alright.
Hope i get in this time.
