Looking for artists

Postby Ricky Denzel » 15 Apr 2014 08:54

I don't know where to put this. So if this is unacceptable, please remove or lock it and don't be an asshole about it. Thanks.

So, I started a label called Banished Moon Records for bronies and non-bronies in the world of music, and I'm looking for artists to join. For those who want to join, email the label at [email protected]

About BMR:
Banished Moon Records is a EDM/IDM/Rock label created by Ricky Denzel (Me) for those who love and make music like it was their own child

Promotions:
SoundCloud promotions. Beatport promotions will commence when I have enough artists

Touring and Things
What do you think this is: OWSLA. I'm not Skrillex

Websites:
Twitter|Tumblr

Releases:
ALL SONGS AND/OR ALBUMS WILL BE FREE. This is a non-charitable label

If I'm missing ANY piece of information, let me know please.

When starting a label, what do you really have to offer the artists? Labels that are first starting with no reputation can't expect artists to come to them.

Do you offer management, access to webshops like iTunes Beatport etc, airwave and internet radio stations, promotion, established fanbase to sell to, means of setting up a tour, etc. etc. etc.

Not saying there is only 1 way to make a label, but you have to have something of worth to offer artists in exchange for their hard work.

If you want to get things accomplished and actually take this somewhere, you've got to have solid goals and a realistic view on how to do it. Many have failed before you, so what can you do differently or else it will be the same sob story again.

Remember, you have to be able to provide great value of some kind to the audience, artists, and yourself. Accept any garbage that comes your way because you are desperate, and the audience will not care. (EQD is a prime example of pleasing the artists and miffing the audience with their music posts.)

Good luck!

At least you have a reason. Some people want to join because of the name, then fell disappointed.

Thanks for everyone who's sending in. If you don't see yourself on the artists tab, that means I'm busy with something else or I didn't get something from you.

Wow you have a broken website (that looks like it could be really nice if any of the stuff worked). A 7 second wip on your label's soundscloud and nothing else. I also don't know if you have anyone on your roster yet.

It's frankly a bit embarrassing when ppl throw together a brony music label w/o any thought and leave stuff up that's not flattering at all. Really does nothing to help the argument that a brony music label can work....

You really should have a roster and a partial discography before you even go PUBLIC.
