Typical "WoodenToaster Style" Lead in NI Massive

Postby REDD » 28 Mar 2014 19:20

Anybody have any ideas as to how I could possibly make the lead that Glaze seems to use a lot?
Like the lead from Nightmare Night, specifically.

Tutorial video?
Preset?
Anyone wanna show me how I could recreate that lead?
Thanks.

Hey, and welcome to the forum. We have a dedicated thread for sound recreation here: http://mylittleremix.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=7785

I'm sure someone with more experience than me could help you out there :)

The Daft Talk preset in Massive sounds pretty Glazy. I don't know if its what you are looking for, but it is a place to start.

If I don't remember wrongly from BUCK'13, Glaze mentioned that he didn't like using Mumble's computer, since he didn't have Harmor installed. Apparently, Glaze prefers to use Harmor for his synths (Though Massive might get a very similar sound)

Here's every sound except the one you asked for! These are NI Massive.

https://app.box.com/s/mshebtn39imdmasizarj

on livestream of making the cheerilee song he used massive, but that was several years ago couldn't tell you for sure what he does now. what plugin someone uses really isn't important, it's about being able to feel the music.

if you're still looking for a nightmare night style lead, look up chiptune or 8-bit sound design on youtube, make 2 of the sounds in the oscillators (square and saw are good), make your own tasteful adjustments to make it a little more complex (use the mod section, filters, etc.), and then turn up the glide. should get something interesting at least.

If you want to get the attitude that glaze uses in his synth, i suggest you use things like occasional trills, lots of pitch bends, and in some cases the short lower note before the actual note, like a fast step (a good example is the lead in Beyond Her Garden)

You mess with the best, you die like the rest, huh?
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.
