^ Nice job man. I generally don't enjoy anything with a country feel to it, but this just clicks with me for some reason!

It has a really epic, 'This-song-is-going-to-be-powerful' atmosphere to it, and where you left it off at the end there feels like it was going to get bigger again kind of like you were leading it to some kind of bass droppy thing (if the style of music you were planning on doing has that) or something, which could be a good thing to do maybe I dunno :3

It gives me an idea though, later on in the song if you have the same thing happen where it builds, drops, and then comes back, you could maybe throw in a short, lone part on a classical piano kind of similar to the opening notes of Eskimo Joe - Comfort You.

Spoiler This:
Yeah, I think that's most of the problem, I've got this really big kind of build up and I think stepping it up for a powerful mid section is really difficult. I've got a couple of ideas I might try out though. :3

https://soundcloud.com/callenby/magike-wip

I just now uploaded a horribly unfinished WIP for an album that ends in less than a week just before I go out of town for a few days where I won't be able to work on music because I LIVE ON THE EDGE.

But in all seriousness, I didn't manage to do any automation/fine tuning but I'll do that when I get back. Also the various sections aren't fully developed. I was going for a Saint-Saens kind of feeling. The biggest concern of mine would be structure; what do you think of it? Out of everything the structure has been the biggest problem.

The other issue I have is with the melody. Think it evolves well enough? Also, it was originally for flute but I didn't have a good VSTI for that so I swapped it at the last minute for an oboe but I might change it back or something. Not sure. What instrument do you think really captures the feeling of magic (that's also within the same range)?

@Callenby
I think it sounds fine so far. Maybe add a rising ride/crash in the beginning (or not, that's just how I write orchestral). As for the instrument that captures magic. I feel that either a flute or a cello would work the best. I'd lean more towards cello (but then again that's the way I'd do it, cause I frikin love bass).

Yes, the deadline is the 14th. However, I wouldn't mind that being extended by another week, as Kheoz suggested. That would bring the release date closer to Christmastime, which I think would be neat.

Could someone please reach Kheoz and see if we can actually get this extension? I might be able to finish in time but I would really appreciate another week.

[17:13:13] ExoBassTix: people on MLR are asking for someone to ask you if the compilation can have a week extension
[17:17:09] Kheoz: I suppose, but everything has to be in by the 20th, no more deadline extensions after that.
[17:21:17] Kheoz: And sorry about not being on for so long. Irl stuff. I'm going to try and get on and update the post this weekend

Far ahead of you :P

I really hope my track doesn't come off as too repetitive though... It -is- very repetitive, but not everyone understands that it's supposed to be -this- repetitive.

It's out. Wooooo! Good luck, all!

Does anyone know when we can release our tracks? I'm assuming it's once the whole thing is uploaded on Bandcamp because I don't think Kheoz ever specified anything.

I merely meant that today is the deadline. Sorry.

Or it's supposed to be, anyway. I haven't heard any news from Kheoz in at least a week.

Yeah, you got the date right, this was from Kheoz on Thursday.

In tomorrow, wav uploaded to a file sharing site such as dropbox, mediafire, etc. And email the link (subject is your name, the name of your song, and the character it's based on) to [email protected]

I expected not to get in. When I entered for Derpy Swings, I got rejected saying my entry was empty and sounded like a "MIDI file", and I knew I'd done the same for this. I admit, my entry was extremely repetitive, and felt like I wasted 2 months not trying to fix, edit, or even make a better entry.
Oh well...
