First of all, I should say that I'm hardly an authority on ambient music. For that, you should seek out Kyoga. I'm sure he'd be willing to give some advice. In the meantime, though, you're stuck with me. Sorry about that :/
Anyway, I think you have a start here, but it could use some tweaking and expanding.
For instance, the synth effect you introduce at 1:26 was a little distracting. Perhaps tone that down just a bit?
Also, the drum beat synth was a tad distracting for my taste. That may just be me, but I would push it a little more to the background. If the listener is paying an undue amount of attention to the beat for an ambient track then that may be a problem.
Overall, it seems a little too repetitive and...spacious, I guess would be the word. What I mean is that it seems like it could do with a few more effects going on at the same time, so that it resembles a growing and evolving landscape of sounds. I would also say that maybe you should fine tune the mixing, because right now it's a bit on the muddled side. Don't be afraid to slim down your effects and pads.
It might help if you told us exactly what your intention behind making this was and what sort of context or mood you are trying to write for. That way feedback could be more focused. Is it simply supposed to be mellow and relaxing? Or maybe it's supposed to evoke a feeling of isolation and alienation? Or maybe something else entirely?
I hope some of that could help, even though it was from the perspective of a non-ambient producer but, again, you should seek out people who actually make this kind of music.
