Remix War VII Followup

Remix War VII Followup

Postby Stars In Autumn » 24 Sep 2013 17:34

Hey, this is the remix war VII followup thread.

In case you missed it, here are all the songs submitted for Remix War VII (that had working DL links)
https://mega.co.nz/#!5MJ1ALSD!ckNpFyV79twtCK5c0wpesSku9tIUoWDVKcPz4NQNNnk

I don't have any real plans for the next remix war, but we can assume it'll probably be next year at the start of summer and go on for 3 months of so, rather than just 5 weeks.

Leave your suggestions and/or ideas for a theme here!

Haha listening to mine with fresh ears compared to everyone elses', my remix sounds really amateurish (I guess that's what I get for only starting it a week before it was due)

Next summer seems so far away though, but it makes sense, as people are in school right now. It would kinda be fun to do a winter one (Remix War VIII: Cold War) but that would be right on the heals of this one (though it would be during the next season hopefully so there will be more activity and stuff again).

As for themes, I could only think of two good ones off the bat:
Ship the Musicians: Remix two (or more) musician's songs together. [ex. GlazexOdyssey - Discord Factory]

Web of Friendship: This would be 2-part. In the first part, all participants make an original track and submit it (along with vocals and stems). In the second part, all the people who submitted are randomly given another person's song (and vocals/ stems) without being told who it is, and must remix that track. No telling what song you have/ made for either part, and during the stream, all the tracks are revealed in pairs.

Such input, very help. :3

I personally like the "Web Of Friendship" idea. Like, a lot.

I do like the web of friendship thing. Pretty complicated, however, and there's bound to be lots of folk who don't finish the remix, which would be a shame.

I also like the Web of Friendship idea. But like Stars said, I find it hard to believe that everyone would finish their remix, because some people are too used to the idea of picking and choosing the song that they remix.
currently on a hiatus from actively making music due to school

Hmm I loved the idea of what we had going for thisremix war but how about we take it to another level
Well one idea is that we have a title such as
Remix War VIII : The Sting of Betrayl and have. Two part war each person remixes one song of a current fandom members and than a song of a person who left such as a
Living Tombstone then have a Alex S song.
Or for another idea
Remix War : Bring on the H8 (Hate get it :P)
This war will be a two round war and can be a sorta cross fandom to where you remix a song in the fandom or make a song in the fandom then remix a song outside of the fandom.
Just my ideas now I have many more to come!!!

Bit of necromancy here.

It's going to be quite awhile until the new remix war begins. They generally run through the summer and when people are out of school/college and when new episodes are n/a and people are feeling a little less inspired. We do hope that the new edition gets a bit more community involvement next time around. We will try to get the word offsite a bit more so we get not just mlr involvement but the community as a whole. Stars in Autumn has showed a dedication to wanting to head and continue this project in particular so we'll let MLR and others know when the event is going to happen.

Nothing personal but going to lock this as we aren't close to another event or looking for input quite yet.
