Post A Picture Of How You Arrange Your Songs

From scales and semitones to pentatonics and cadence patterns. It's all about the science behind the expression, here.

It's been a while since I posted here. Here's a shot of my current track in progress.
There's actually more in the playlist if you scrolled it down; I just couldn't fit it all in.

That's an old version of ardour (v2, currently using v3 which has some previously lacking essential features such as stem export and MIDI tracks, and is a bit less ugly). Pretty straightforward, arrangement-wise.

Anyone else love to use location markers (or equivalent) to keep track of changes to do to the song, e.g. "TODO remove mud", "TODO retake guitar"? :P

Here is my remix of Cave Story's "Last Battle". Sorry for the size, but when I scaled it down, the text was unreadable.

My most recent song (for remix war) [Hint its not called innocence I was making another song and wanted to use the instruments in it for a different song but never change the name]

Just realized I never took the limiter and compressor off from last night when I was playing it in a car and needed it really loud... thankfully they aren't in the youtube video or original file...

I always name the mixer channels, I only name the tracks after I'm done so if I come back to the thing later I can stilll work on it.

I never name any patterns but I really should.

If I AM in FL and using Kontakt (for when I do synthy orchestral songs; I use cubase for pure orchestral), I never name the instances of Kontakt in the step sequencer, but I devote one instance of Kontakt to one instrument, and link it to a mixer channel, which I then name. I basically remember "Okay, Kontakt #3 is actually Violin". I just can't be bothered to rename Kontakt when I only use it so often in FL.

I don't use Kontakt, but when I'm doing stuff with Edirol, I use so many midi-outs that I find it easier to just name them rather than remember, especially if I forget to save the performance file in Edirol, and have to redo all the instruments.

Also, in Cubase, I just keep adding instrument patches to Kontakt and those are my midi outs in whatever order I happen to add them. Then I name the tracks. Ye.

Pics are of RMX W VII track.

I counted 30 open windows!!!

This is how I work!!! I have tracks named stuff like "pihno" or "BRKDN hadts #6" so I can recognise it without having to define what it is.
I don't close stuff, I just bring up the next thing on top. I never colour anything. I resize the tracks in the playlist to edit automation clips, then usually forget to shrink them down again. I never name or colour mixertracks, I use the function "Assign free mixer track" and it gets named and coloured after the plugin automatically.
I have a background pic full of inspiration.

And to show you how it actually works, links to a pic of the playlist and the mixer.
