Flux's scope is much bigger compared to the Ozone scope.

I'm going to play around with it and a screen capture program later today so you can here the sounds the scope is reacting too.

Okay, is there a resource I can use to figure out how to read these things? @_@

I understand the gist of how it works, but that's about it.

Woo I like this thread idea. Goniometers are quite useful analyzer tools.

Here is what most of my songs end up looking like on Goniometers:

Image

Mono bass, mono kick drum, and mono bass layer. The stereo came from the high hats, pads, and snares. This is an EDM song that I made, but it still is very similar to almost every genre that I've made because of how I mix various elements in a song, such as bass and kick (mono) and hats and pads (stereo).

Here's something else I've made:

Image

This is, surprisingly, a song that uses only orchestral strings such as cellos, double bass (mono), and violins. The perfect diamond outline shape of this spectrum comes from the heavy distortion that I applied to the strings (it's okay for me to say that I used heavy distortion on strings because Lavender doesn't come here anymore).

I think the main indication of any sound that has been distorted is if it resembles a sharp diamond shape like this one. Lots of artists and mastering engineers put saturation distortion on their mastering chain to get max loudness nowadays, and you can see the result if you look at those songs through Goniometers.

Agreed.

I'm still a bit iffy on how to read them, but darned if they aren't mesmerizing to look at.

A really neat thing to try is to take waveforms with very heavy harmonics, like saws or FM waveforms, and then gradually high-cut them while watching your goniometer. It's cool to see the spectrum become calmer, smoother, and less chaotic.
