<remix> <pony?> Unison (Element6 Remix)

I love to remix now. Thanks to Remix War V, I've realized how rewarding and fun making a remix can be. It's actually a good reminder that I need to learn music theory, so I can make my own infectious melodies. I'm really happy with this one though.

The original is by Porter Robinson of course. I don't own the song and stuff, legal words legal words legal words, but I really enjoy the original so I wanted to try putting my own spin on it. If you haven't heard of Porter Robinson somehow, be sure to go listen to his music. It's great!

Also, I didn't know whether or not to tag it pony related. I used a sample from the show, 'tis Pinkie Pie, but the song isn't made with ponies specifically in mind. I just couldn't resist. Pinkie was talking to me by the way. I really do need to get out more.

Criticism is always welcome too, I value honesty and the chance to improve.

Thanks!

Initial thoughts:
-Definitely do some compression and EQing with those drums, because they're pretty weak as they are now.
-Maybe EQ up some of the higher frequencies in that saw in the intro? It sounds a little muffled.
-I'd work on making the synth playing the chords a bit... Bigger? You know, have that feeling you get out of stuff like Porter and Avicii and other house artists. I've never made the sort of sound I'm referring to, but I've always had it in my head that it's a somewhat lowpassed detuned saw. But again, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

But beyond that, this is pretty chill, which is a very interesting spin to put on Porter Robinson.

Oh, and keep at this remixing game. It can very very rewarding, all the more so if you already enjoy it :D

I can't feel my brain.

Thanks guys, colortwelve your thoughts are very helpful. I agree with everything you've said. I only wish I had been able to recognize what needed fixing before releasing the song. Hopefully once I'm more experienced with all this I can figure out what needs improvement beforehand.
EQ is my enemy, by the way. I'm learning how to use it effectively, but it's still very new to me.

And also, I'll definitely keep remixing! I'm pretty happy with my Remix War entry as well, in fact, both this song and my Remix War contribution are my two favorite songs that I've created. Favorite as in they were the most fun to make, and perhaps a step up in my usual quality. I'm looking forward to trying out many new things.
