I NEVER make orchestral music, and since I want to be a composer soon, Why not give it a shot? This is my first attempt ever at making something with an orchestra in it. Tell me if you like it!

Noooo! I want to know whether the A worked instead of the Ab! :(

Doesn't sound bad at all! I think the actual fanfare bit at the beginning can be expanded and developed a bit more before it ends. Herald fanfares, the "announcement" kind, are allowed to be really short. The epic buildup kind, which you have... Not quite as much. =P

Another thing you can do is thicken up the texture. Have more instruments playing more notes, beef up the bass, add some brass sounds to make it more of a fanfare and less of just a rising orchestral line. Right now, I only hear contrabass on the lowest part. Contrabass gets a nice, thick sound, but it's subtle -- not something you really want too much of in a fanfare. =P Adding a bass trombone (and the rest of the trombone section) should beef up the sound considerably.

Woodwind runs and flourishes are optional, but they can make long-note-based things sound a lot more interesting. Don't feel like you have to do it, though -- they're weird to write without sounding out-of-place.

Bummer, oh well, it's difficult to determine what's wrong when I don't have the score...:P
I'll pretty much just say: "What Versilaryan said" and also say, "It was very good!"
