Fluttershy's battle theme

Here you have my first good(ish) file on Soundcloud and it still sucks. Go fig,
A battle theme for fluttershy I did try, to make. Although many of the instruments sound quite fake.
So yeah, I went for a somewhat Celtic feel to it seeing as how that is very nature-y sounding and Fluttershy is nothing if not in tune w/ nature. But yeah, silly me had to go and add guitar and strings to it.
Critique me on how to write good Fighting game music bronies! (Derpy Hooves this means you lol)

I had a smile on my face within the first few bars, one that did not fade for the remainder of the song. I don't think I've really done this for a song posted on this site, but I've opened this up in a new window to play for a little while as I go about my business. In short, I really love this song!

It's a unique approach, but the brightness and innocence really work will with Fluttershy's character, and the upbeat-ness means that it's not hard to imagine it as the soundtrack to a fighting game. It's very impressive.

I know I could go look on the DAW collab listing to find out, but I'm lazy. So what did you use to make this?

The bagpipe was great! (What can I say, I love bagpipes). This was an overall very well composed theme, no need to trash good work. I'm especially fond of the celtic drums, and I'd love to know what you used for them!

Lol oddly enough, you have em! It's projectsam Truestrike2 "world percussion". for the smaller bongo type drums I used a Westgate studios soundfont simply called "all percussion". ^^;
You have much better bagpipe sounds than I, where do you get yours from?

Reason 5. FL Studios is sort of my nemesis. I think that it's possible to get better sound out of Reason than you can out of FL Studios, at least for orchestral based stuff (although the electronic stuff in Reason seems pretty solid as well, even though that's not my thing.)

You should check out Reason. It comes with a pretty diverse bank of orchestral sounds to play with, and I just think that its organization system is a lot easier to understand than FL Studios. Also, like I said earlier, I think that it just produces better sound. Whether that's the soundfonts or the program or me being subjective and wrong (which is possible and likely) that's just how it seems to me.

I used EWQL Ra for the bagpipes, but I created a multi using the Bagpipe Ensemble and Highland Pipes. Sort of cheating, since it's not completely bagpipes but it sounds about right.

Their official site says it's only about $400, it didn't mention anything about iLok or a dongle. So I don't really know...

[edit] oh, play edition adds a lot of very nice stuff. Didn't see that.

Lol I like how you said "only about $400" xD. I'm flat broke amigo! xP I must find another way of getting bagpipe ensembles, hurdy gurdies, Uilleann pipes, and Highland pipes >.>
My tutor has RA, Stormdrum, Symphonic Gold, and some other stuff from EWQL and they all use iLok because they run in PLAY. It seems EW got smart and developed Play to avoid illegal use of their programs. >_>...the silly bastards lol.

Very nice, kind of reminded me of the "How to Train Your Dragon" soundtrack...but that could just be the Bagpipes...:P
Still, excellent, it made me think that they were about to head out on an epic quest! Whoever they might be...

Blamo!
Last week's challenge was "Pony Battle Music!"
This week's is "A Pony Has Grown Some Wings!" Or something like that...

Well, here's the page for the latest competition, which explains it better...

I know but still, I wanted to do battle music ever since I didn't get in on that "Fighting is Magic" project.
I have something cooking for Applejack regarding this latest theme. ;)
