Holiday Cheer: Christmas in Ponyville

Postby CaptainFluffatun » 24 Nov 2012 03:13

The holidays are coming! Time to spread that good ol' holiday spirit. How? In the form of a compilation of happy-go-lucky holiday music, of course! The album will be free, with optional donation. The proceeds will all go to Your Siblings because what other charities do I know none so get off my back pls (plus, they're very close to being able to finish their orphanage, and who knows, this could be what gets them there).

DUE: December 27th to [email protected]

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
-Submit a .wav using box.com - PLEASE
-The song should be somewhat happy
-Maximum song length is ten minutes
-The song should be related to Hearths Warming Eve, or any winter holiday
-The song should be child-friendly

SUBMISSION TITLE FORMAT: "Artist name - Track name"

FAQ:

Q: What type of genres are allowed?
A: Any genre is fair game, though keep in mind that some genres are intrinsically less happy than others, so you might have trouble making the song sound happy. If you can, then more power to you.

Q: Are collaborations allowed?
A: Absolutely! Friendship is magic, after all.

Q: A tornado blew my home away right before the deadline. Can I have an extra day?
A: If you submit after the deadline, there is no guarantee that your song will make it to me in time, so try to submit before. If by some holiday miracle I receive it before the panel prelistens, then I will still accept it. Again, no guarantees.

Q: Oh no, prelistening D: I am the poop at the moosik :,( I may as well not even try.
A: Nonsense! The only way you will for sure fail to make it on is if you don't try at all. As cheesy as that sounds, it's also true. If you truly think you need work, then work! Ask around the forum and skype groups for help on your tracks. There are plenty of qualified musicians to help you out. Now go make music.

Q: Can I make sixteen billion songs for the album?
A: You can submit as many as you want, but you're only shooting yourself in the foot if you go more than two. The more time you divide up for all your crazy projects in the small time frame you have, the less likely it will be that any of them will wind up as a quality piece at all.

Q: Does my song need to include ponies?
A: Though the album is officially pony, non-pony submissions will be accepted with equal regard.

My skype name is captainfluffatun. If you wish to be a part of the group chat, add me and simply ask!

Time for some Carol of the Bells. I love that song because It is somber yet still remains happy. Whenever I listen to it I feel as if there is a deeper meaning.

Not being critical, just making sure you knew. If I get inspired I might make a track for this one as well, or if the other one ends up falling apart I'll donate the song I'm currently working on.

Any winter holiday?

Hehehehehehe. We might actually submit something for this.

-places pipe in mouth, inhales, then slowly exhale-
How does one go about making winter tracks?

-ahem-
In all seriousness, I can make happy music since that's what I generally make anyway, but to make it sound Christmas-like is what's stressing me the most. Kid you not, I'm at the Doctors office and the only thing Xmas related these country songs are are the lyrics. Unless its a remix of a classic Xmas tune but that seems like a cheap copout?

Just do whatever YOU think fits the bill, not what POPULARLY fits the bill. I will assume that every track submitted is about the holidays. I think it's fair to give the benefit of the doubt in that regard, because music is subjective. Who am *I* to say what does and does not constitute as holiday music? Maybe you like rocking out to dubstep on Christmas morn'. Maybe you like adventuring through the hills now glazed with ice to some fine orchestral music. Maybe you like-- well, you get the point.

Ah. I generally don't celebrate Xmas just because I'm a plain kind of guy, but with all these freaking Xmas decorations and watching the Hearth's Warming Eve episode...uh you don't want to know how many times, I've got something in my head that hopefully will turn out the way I want it to.

So in short, I'm in! Expect some Happy Hardcore, Captain! -salutes-
