- The kick at the beggining, sounds like something is missing... It sounds a bit.... dry ?
Maybe add some reverb ? Or layer it with a bit more punchy kick ? Messing with the dynamics ? Not sure.
- Simple suggestion, you could try adding a clap (or even a snare) with the kick at some point too, to bring more variation.
- For the reverse bass, not much i can think of here, sounds good to me (maybe turn up a bit the volume). One thing you can try to do is going to the channel settings of the reverse bass and enabling the fade stereo option in the precomputed effects. Then mess with the pan and volume, you can get a really neat effect like that.
- Maybe it's just me, but i think that the reversed ride/crash should be a tad louder
- Screech. Ah. A good ol' screech like we love them. You could just try to make it vary a bit more, even if it's just a second pattern.
- The "Nu-style" kick. A really cool kick, just the punch seems to have some unwanted noise when it's pitched up, might want to fix that, if you can (i totally understand how much of a pain in the *** these kicks are to make), that is, unless it's just my imagination.
- The melody is perfect for me. In my opinion, that melody totally fits the track. I Love it <3 (reminds me of one of trance generators's recent track, haha)

And also, you could give more flavour to your track with FXs, FXs kicks, sweeps, ambient sounds, hits, and little things like that.

Kick in the beginning is just a mixing intro probably why its basic sounding.
I kept the percussion a bit low in the mix, had it louder at first but imo took away from the screech.
As for the reverse bass, I'll probably just end up cutting off all panning below 300hz when mastering, thanks for mentioning fade stereo though, I always forget about it.
And yeah it's more like a oldskool inspired track, so I see where you're coming from with the "between nu and oldskool" comment.
thanks for the feedback mate. quite in depth, I'll probably mess around with the mix some more.

Ooooo! I like it. But, there is some volume adjustments you need, I could hardly hear the kick in the climax. Also, I feel like that kick is mostly tail and no punch. Maybe add a bassdrum sample, or some sound with a really good punch in the beginning to give the kick more weight? Your melody is really good, but turn the synth down a little bit. I'd love to have this edited into something like a 2013 edit and put up on Ponytraxx. Thanks for sharing!

This is still going? Even though I still gringe at the parody names that's good to see.
Might aswell contribute with a track that will be on my upcoming EP:

Even though you don't like the names, we still welcome ya. Thanks for contributing! This is a really good track overall. You would be even more amazing if you started to produce a little more hardstyle! Love the dubstyle breaks. Gives me the Atmozfears vibe. I'll release this on soundcloud today.

I'm REALLY sorry, I didn't realize. I'll take it down right away. I am so sorry for any confusion. I will ask before I upload from now on. When you said you were contributing, I thought you meant you were giving it to me to release. I will wait until your ep is released. When is that btw?

It's cool, it was a misunderstanding.
Also it's not pony related at all so it doesn't even qualify for your "label" and I wouldn't want it on there anyway because I am selling it on Bandcamp.
I was really just asking for some feedback.
My bad, next time I'll watch my wording better.

It's fine, but it would be really cool if you produced some pony hardstyle. Sorry for the big misunderstanding.

I haven't made a hardstyle track in forever.
I should get back into it, it's loads of fun to make :3

Here is a drumstep + hardstyle fusion track I'm working on. The trick here is that everyone is expecting some hardcore wubwub when the buildup begins, but instead of that they get distorted kickdrums.

http://dl.dropbox.com/s/z5302lk0hmw3cy7 ... ft%202.mp3

Highly a work in progress right now, there are many issues and missing elements, but it's taking shape!

This is nice! I've never heard something like this.
I definitely like structure, but the kick needs more of a punch and needs to be louder. Thanks for contributing!

I was curious and looked through the Sylenth1 presets if I could spot any synths used in tracks I know of, and I quickly spotted a saw lead that was pretty much exactly like the lead used in a recent Frequencerz & E-Force release. :P

Couldn't help myself and tried to see if my mind wasn't playing games with me, and nope it wasn't:

Just the synth:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11909930/music ... onlead.mp3

With a kick:
https://soundcloud.com/dissorder/frequencerz-e-force-attention

The original (1:40):

I left the synth more 'dry' than Frequencerz & E-Force did though, they really piled ALL the fx on it :')

EDIT: And they also used the synth at a little lower pitch... Oh well.

Again been experimenting with some kickdesign earlier. This time I completely left 909 bassdrums out of the picture and made a kick from a single instance of 3xOsc and a screech with Sylenth1:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11909930/music ... -test2.mp3

(Yes it's 140bpm instead of the 'normal' 150, 140 felt better for this kick)

If you're in FL studio, get fruity kick, change preset to "classic", put it in the mixer and add a fast dist and a soft clipper, and you're good to go.

I decided to make a track out of that test from earlier. Now at 150bpm too (and the kick is also better, with help from Pat B through Twitter ;3)
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11909930/music ... 150bpm.mp3

Any thoughts? ^^

EDIT: 175bpm version, pour les lulz XD

The kick sounds pretty hollow, maybe try adding a deeper sub underneath it. The screech is cool, goes well with the alarm sound in the beginning. The whole thing sounds a bit empty though, it needs something more to go along with the screech. Overall this is pretty nice, it could turn out to be something awesome!

A quick loop i did, i was bored and lazy, don't take that too seriously. =P

Maybe i should have put more effort into mastering here...

I will try to finish various projects i have in mind when i get motivated enough, and satisfied with my sounds.

The screech and the 'alarm sound' are actually the same thing. In the beginning I put it to 0% dry on my reverb plugin to make it sound like a distant alarm, and after the first 'howl' it slowly goes up to 100% dry when the kick starts. :)

About the kick: Tried the best I could and decided to just go with it. First kick I ever made with something else than a 909 (I used 3xOsc for it), so I'm surprised I got something that even sounds sort of decent.

Though judging by the kicks you use, you're probably into 'cleaner' kicks while I like them raw. So I guess it's a personal preference thing too. ;)

Quick question, do you use fruity reverb ?

If not, what reverb plugin do you use ?

Reeverb 2, yes. It does what it should and that's good enough for me. As soon as it won't do as good as I want it to, then I'll probably get some 3rd party plugin though.
