Slight flight troubles make it so I'm not there yet, so I'm taking flight (Of The Pegasi) tonight, then bus to Keldur and trekking to Skogar (non spray painted routes here then here). I'll visit Skaftafell, Eldgjà and Landmannalaugar after that, and maybe the golden circle if I have enough time. Just hoping weather forecast is wrong.

For exmpale, is there a problem in basing a part of the song on the 'Love conquers all' soundtrack from the S2 finale?

Beliefs in human nature cannot be copyrighted, friend. If you want to make a song about that, do so ^-^

I think in this case it'd be fine. Though technically it is copyright if you don't notify the producer. If MLP wanted, they could sue the pants off every artist who's made a song with samples from the show. But the fact that no one in the community is actually trying to make money means that doing so is just a waste of time on Hasbro's side.

Also technically everything that is an original idea is covered by copyright law. If you think up lyrics to a song, those lyrics are your intellectual property. Only trouble is trying to prove that they're your intellectual property if someone steals em.

If its basing on part of a song, this is fine as long as it isn't exactly copied. This was done in Keys of Happiness in the previous album and there were no issues with copyright there. As long as there is no actual copy+paste sampling, you should be good.

I guess as long as it's different, and not like, a fan-made extension. You can be inspired by things, just don't steal. I'm not saying you specifically were going to, but as a general statement

Its really sad that you can't make this deadline. As I recall for Seeds of Kindness, the deadline was extended by 1 week, so you may never know. Its possible that they may push it back.

I'll stay around reykjavik with some phone Internet for the next few days. You are not really supposed to, but a small part of a song loosely based off show music is completely fine. Keys of Happiness quoted the heart carol at one point.

I said it would be the final deadline because the many extensions upset you, among a few others. This is a charity project that you are building, so before all, we want to accommodate you guys. I guess we can extend it a week or so, and start running early preparations so that the album isn't delayed, and everyone is happy. Also, since it's not a contest of any sort but a charity album, we won't mind much if you're a bit late. Try not to be, but we'd much, much rather have a late entry than none at all
