Also, update for everyone:
You should submit two versions of your song: one with drums and one without.
Sonarch wrote:@Nine Volt: If you, for whatever reason, can't find an artist, that's also probably something you could get through EqD. Just send an email saying the album needs an artist to do the cover art, and your info so the artist can contact you. But I assume someone on here knows artists a little better than I do, so I doubt that'll be an issue.
On an unrelated note, I am going to have to work a bit harder if i'm going to get a track done by late December. Since I have never done a house song, and have little experience with house outside of brony songs, can you all suggest some artists/songs I can listen to so I can familiarize myself with the genre? Specifically, electro-house, as that's what my collab partner and I decided on.
Pewter Robot wrote:Best electro house IMO is Mord Fustang. Listen to "The Electric Dream" and "Milky Way" for more melodic stuff. "Super Meat Freeze", "Super Fever", and "Lick the Rainbow" for more hard electro house.

I'm going to start over on my track completely. I want my mix to sound almost as flawless as deadmau5's.
For one, I learned that -6db isn't enough headroom for accurate mixing. 45% of the people who actually know what they're doing say it should be -18db, but -20db is the actual industry standard. -18db or lower is a better reference mixing level because -18dBFS = 0VU. You need that level of headroom to get an accurate mix.
I also realized I was being a dumbass and putting compression before EQ on my effects chain. That means I fucked up my kick drum and bass by not cutting frequencies before leveling them out evenly with compression, and need to start from scratch.

An old project that's been bumming around on my computer for a couple of months.
Not my best creation, but it's at least finished.
Nine Volt wrote:No. That's not your submission.
1. It's too long.
2. Spend more time mixing and mastering.
3. Can't have your song without the 2 versions as well as an actual download link, submitted via PM or email to me.
If you're going to submit something then at least read the rules.
(I'm not trying to be a dick but please try harder)

It sounds a little overcompressed. The kick and clap/snare don't stand out very well in the mix. I honestly can't tell if you were using a clap or a snare because of it. Either that or the levels are just off.
Also, many of the frequencies in the song are bleeding into one another. You should spent more time EQing the track.
The song is kinda repetitive and boring to listen to. I like progressive songs, but this doesn't seem to progress at a fast enough rate to keep the listener interested. Consider starting from a basic 4/4 kick pattern and then building your entire track upwards as the track progresses, or doing something like that.
Lastly, it sounds like you went overkill on the white noise. At 2:52 in the track, it just sounds terrible.
I thought that it was ok, but it could be a lot better. Nine Volt is right, this isn't your submission. Take the time to make it sound professional. There's plenty of time left to work on it.

I'm sorry, but how the hell is that even possible? Did you even listen to the track before hitting "render"? My mind is blown that someone would render a track, not listen to it, and even put it up as a submission for an album. If I were the OP, I'd actually feel like someone's trolling me.

Partyraw tried to make Muffin Party, a shitty Music Theory thread and some other stuff. Everyone hated on him so he got mad and never came back :/
But back on the subject of house music. deadmau5.
