Forum game: bandcamp listen

Postby Facade » 15 Jan 2014 00:00

ok while browsing bandcamp i came up with this game to help people find music artists genres that they probably would of never listened to before so heres how it works

step 1: go to the bandcamp posted directly above you and listen through some or all of it if you want

step 2: post what album / song you like the most

step 3: post a bandcamp that isnt on the current page

as the op i have nothing to open so ill start

I friggin' love Lapfox. My favourite is TQBF - Wanderlust on the WANDERLUST album.

There's one band I can't remember the page name of and can't look up right now because phone, so I'll post them later.

For now: generalmumble.bandcamp.com
Seems like everyone knows of him but haven't heard much of his music. Dudes so underrated. :3

I'd start with baasik.bandcamp.com, this guy does very nice electro-housy-synth-pop-whatever, basicaly all the collabs with his brother Black Gryph0n are golden (and i can't refrain myself to add Are we there yet ? too).
The last track "Run" in the bandcamp album is by far my favorite, and the rest of the album is nice.

I litterally listened to all the TQBF albums 3 times this week, Lapfox is beyond this world. Some of his RQ-alias songs are great too.

Read the rules people. Because I have time right now, I'll do both. gogo type-as-I-listen tactics.

Futret
I've heard of Futret before, never actually listened to any of his stuff though, but I'll scan through the two releases that have come out in the last 12 months. Okay so this is very fun and silly. This isn't exactly my type of music but I can see why people enjoy it. And I do to a degree, but it's nothing I'll advertise to my friends, which is kinda what artists want most of the time. Well the second release with the needlessly long name is kinda grabbing my attention a lot more than the EP thing/whatever people are calling short releases now. Junglepunked was a bit of stupid fun. "Somebody That I Used To Piss All Over", eloquently named, was something I liked. Monsterfucker is a great name for a song. So, once again, there was some stuff I liked there but nothing mindblowing.

Baasik
The one song I've heard from Baasik and Black Gryph0n sounded like an Owl City parody so I'll see how much I like this. It's all very light, poppy as far as EDM goes. I've heard pretty much everything on this album before. There's nothing new here, but at least it's a good rip-off as opposed to a bad one. Didn't even listen to more than 3 seconds of Face 2 Face. I'll say Newk was probably my favourite though as it actually had a new idea in there, and if I was any other mood this releast would probably be a guilty pleasure for me. Baasik really just needs to find his own style, I think.

And now I need to link a Band Camp, don't I. Well, for something different to everybody else on this thread so far: http://blacksquares.bandcamp.com
currently on a hiatus from actively making music due to school
