Pulse's BLAHST from the PAHST: Italo Disco Thread

Postby Pulse Wave » 29 Jul 2014 08:03

This is kind of a spin-off of my Synthpop thread, and it's the right place to worship a musical genre with a short but intense heyday: Italo Disco.

One of the things that struck me about Italo Disco is that not only hardly an Italo Disco song has Italian lyrics, but some of the artists aren't from Italy either. It's just that the sound itself was defined in Italy in the early 80s.

Enough writing, let's have some music.

Miko Mission – "How Old Are You?" (1984)
Spoiler youtube:

Silver Pozzoli – "Around My Dream" (1985; never heard that version before)
Spoiler youtube:

Scotch – "Disco Band" (1984; contains deliberate amounts of sampler and delay)
Spoiler youtube:

P. Lion – "Happy Children" (1984; unusual for its saxophones and hand-played Simmons SDS V drums)
Spoiler youtube:
