**SOLVED** FL is EQing itself? [Help!]

Postby ROFLPIZZA » 26 May 2014 19:29

**EDIT2**
Problem solved-- I'm an imbecile. Thanks anyway!

**EDIT**
Example: https://soundcloud.com/alkalyne/stupids ... ad/s-NmGrR

Hey all, I've been using FL Studio for a while now and it's never done this. Yesterday it started reducing the volume of my synths and stems on its own and it's starting to peeve me off. I've been all over the internet and I can't find anything on it. I've checked for hidden automation clips, I've reset all the volume knobs and sliders, and I've tried automating the volume back to its proper dB level whenever it changes. It isn't random, for it only does this when drums are present. If I play a stem or synth on its own, the volume will be fine. However, once the drums come in, FL lowers the volume of the synths and stems as if it's trying to EQ itself (horribly) and then the volume goes back up when the drums end. This isn't a bandwidth issue, for my audio isn't clipping and I haven't accidentally set any volume changes. Also, the actual knobs and sliders themselves aren't moving, the volume is just lowering. Examples will be up soon.

Any help is appreciated. I love you all in advance.

Check the master channel to see if FL has Fruity Limiter on the master. I know it does on the standard open preset, so that could be the issue.

I have mine set to load up without a limiter in the master, so that isn't it. I made sure to double-check though and it isn't there. The example track above is just something I threw together in a couple minutes so I know there isn't any sidechaining, for I put it together specifically to show what's going on.

I may be misunderstanding your issue, or I may just be a bad listener, but... I can't hear what you're describing in the track you posted at all. The volume all seems fine to me. Are you sure it's not something system-wide, or something that's otherwise happening to the audio after it leaves FL?

Also, just a nitpick, I think you mean normalization and not EQ.
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.

Normalization, right. I'll have to remember that in the future-- thanks! Also, yes, you're correct. I just figured it out this morning because I also listened to the stem on my other computer and didn't hear the issue. It turns out I had loudness equalization enabled on my laptop. That was the problem. Thank you all for your help anyway and I'm sorry to have wasted your time!
