How do I transfer FL loops from one project to another?

Postby Electric Velocity » 22 Nov 2013 15:05

I have a really nice drum beat in one of my songs that I want to put in a new one, but it can't just be a recording of the drums, I need the samples, patterns, channels, and effects. Is it possible to copy and paste so I don't have to recreate everything from the ground up again?

Is there an export/import button somewhere?

The "File" dropdown menu.

You could just open up a new project or load up the samples from the loop you want to copy into the project file you want to copy it to and then just arrange it the same way it was. This is a lot longer though and is sorta a last resort if the exporting midi stems thing isn't really working out for you.

How do you save and recreate an assigned vst and the "preset" you may have created from a prior project? I think you can drag & drop them into FL to your pattern but not sure how you create those for later recreation.

I know its not that hard to save an individual mixer setup (save on the mixer via file) or a midi pattern (in piano roll, save pattern) but not quite sure how on the above.

So far Image line's yet to include a copy loop feature; the easiest solution I can think of is exporting your first project's project data files and dragging that into your new project.

If you're referring to the sound you've made in your VST, there's a dropdown menu in the top left corner with a "Save Preset As" option. If you meant the melody you've written, go into the piano roll and save the score, same type of dropdown menu

I tried this all once and as it turns out you can copy paste between projects. Only anoying thing is you had to copy, then open the other project, then paste, then reopen the first project for more stuff to copy... I couldn't copy between two projects open at the same time in different windows. But it was still both easier and faster havein both projects open and just recreateing everything manualy...

Sorry I'm no more help than this :/

If you'r talking copying manualy that works
, but copy pasteing like that does not :/

You might have problems with soundcards if you open more than one. You may need to open the ASIO control pannels and make sure they work on separate soundcards/ output devices, which in turn mean you wont be able to listen to both in the same headphones :/
It may work without this, honestly don't remember since it was a while ago I did it. Good luck anyway. :)
