"G Major" pitch shifted vocals

Postby hackd » 27 Apr 2013 20:50

Hey guys, perhaps this is a noob question, but I was wondering what exactly is being done to the audio in these "in G Major" videos:

Is it a chorus effect (tuned to g major)? How would you go about doing it?

Thanks.

It's been sent to a load of pitch shifters.

It sounds like it's been sent through a vocoder. I was able to get a similar sound with vocodex.
Spoilers: That is not actually G major. It's just the name for the effect.

I had my suspicions lol.

I'm not super pro with vocoders, but I'll be sure to try that. Thanks.

This is how we do it!
http://minus.com/lbdKIyQ4GIh0fQ

Pitch shift stuff +-6 semitones, +-12, +-18 and 1 semitone around those. Or even more if you want to fuck shit up big time. ^^ Basically 1 semitone and 6 semitones are most disturbing sounding intervals so spamming those is a good idea.
Holy fuck, it's been such a long time! Thanks all 'yall everyponies! If you're a familiar username on a nostalgia trip, I sincerely hope life's been treating you well. I've certainly had quite a journey! The ride never ends! <3
