Plug-ins for Logic Pro (Mac)

Postby prozeyic » 02 Apr 2013 09:53

So I'm learning to use Logic Pro, seemed like a good idea since the music course at my school requires you to use Logic or Pro Tools.

Anyway, I'm looking for some suggestions on plug-ins. I'm sort of new to this since I'm coming from Reason. I'm looking for a plug-in to help with vocal manipulation, mainly pitch correction. If there's already something that can do that in Logic out of the box feel free to tell me. Haven't really looked around that much but I'm thinking there probably is.

I'm probably gonna go for free plug-ins to start off but feel free to suggest ones that you need to purchase. Suggest anything. Synthesisers, effects or whatever.

Vocal manipulation is easy enough in Logic, you have a few tools at your disposal, Vocal transformer is good for manually creating vocoded harmonies, thats how I did the vocals in Arrivederci, but it involved a lot of manual automation. You also have the pitch shifter, pretty basic but funcional, good for chorusing and spreading vocals through a dual panned bus, and of course the autotuner Pitch Correction, which is kinda self explanatory. You als have the EVOC20 vocoder. I'm still personally looking for a decent vocoder for Logic that I can route any synth into, the EVOC might do that and I've not figured it out yet, I dunno :'D

Thanks for the info, I found the things you were talking about and I'm playing around with 'em at the moment.

I love that song by the way.

EDIT: Also, is there any way to edit samples after you've converted them to a sample track?

Sylenth is a real good synth that you can get for free. It has four oscillators and can produce some pretty nice sounds.

If you want to edit a sample, you just need to use the sample editor. Click the "Sample Editor" tab that sits right above the play and stop buttons. You can also pull this up by double clicking the sample.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look that synth up, think I've seen it before.

And I know how to edit samples, I was wondering if there was a way to do it after you'd converted it to a sampler track. Because after it's converted it turns into MIDI.

Last time I checked it's price was €139.

Lemme check again.

Nope, still €139.

Worth every cent, though. Best money I have ever spent. Don't regret buying it at all unlike some other more popular synths *coughmassivenexuscough*

wut?

*digs around the internet for a while*

oh.....
my copy is not legit......
I had no idea. Now I feel really bad.

Looks like 2.0 is coming for AU soon. I'll just buy that and come clean. Its really is a great synth, and has worked its way into a lot of my music.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's already out for AU. I have no excuses, so I'm just paying for it now. It kind of stinks because I've been saving up for Komplete 9. A sacrifice for doing the right thing.

I programmed a plug-in to do this. I'll need to fix some delay issues before sharing, though.

I think the EVOC 20 TrackOsc can do that actually (under filter effects)

Thank you.

For supporting Lennard, the person who has put a lot of his life and soul into this synth. Maybe this will motivate him to write more synths.
