Setting up Kontakt in Cubase

Postby CaptainFluffatun » 04 Sep 2012 22:32

I made a video for people new to Cubase explaining how to set everything up. Like I say in the video, the stuff I compose in like two seconds is not something I'd release. At all. I hope this helps those new to Cubase. I'm contemplating doing a series detailing each step in the process (for me) of making orchestral music.

I am sorry, CaptainFluffatan, but

0. DOWNLOAD THE TEMPLATE AND USE IT
if it doesn't work then

1. Go to Devices - VST Instruments (OR JUST PRESS F11)
2. Assign Kontakt 5 VST (NOT Kontakt 8/16 out THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT)
3. Do you want to create MIDI tracks? NO
4. Click on the little button by the right side of the E button

and activate ALL THE OUTPUTS

or just Stereo ones
5. Add MIDI Track - Count:16
6. Assign all midi tracks to the Kontakt. Looks like this:

7. Go to the Kontakt working space, click on th Outputs tab
Image

FIRST WAY:
8. Add Channels - Quanity: 15, Number of channels: 2 - OK
9. Presets/Batch configuration - Save current output state as default for - VST Plugin
10. Assign each instrument to the output channels you want
Image

SECOND WAY:
8. ADd some instruments
9. Presets/Batch configuration - Batch Functions - Clear output section and create one individual channel for each instrument

FINAL STEP
(In Cubase) File - Save As Template

You can download the template

P.S. You can do pretty much the same on other hosts. Step 4 is different on different hosts.

Welp, nevermind haha. Triangle knows what's up. Listen to him, and not the original post.
