Must have vst plugins

Postby bartekko » 16 Sep 2011 15:40

I wanted to have A convenient and easily available list of must have vst-plugins

Nothing stimulates creativity better than an all-new
Synth/VST/VSTi
SO:
Free
VST's:
dblue_glitch - the greatest invention in glitching since cut&paste, adding this is just formal, everyone has it (http://illformed.org/data/glitch/dblue_Glitch_v1305.zip)

Blood Overdrive- , makes a sweet, fuzzzzzzy effect, and is 10 years old (http://www.sonicspot.com/blood-overdriv ... rDrive.zip)

E-phonic Lofi- If your sound is too normal- F*ck It up! (http://www.e-phonic.com/downloads/lofi.zip)

CamelCrusher Great, easy-to-use distortion. It works really well on drums and a lot of other things, too.

endorphin One of the best free compressors. It's easy to use and pretty transparent. It also happens to be dual-band, so you get another degree of flexibility there.

Ambience Really good reverb plugin. It's known to be a bit on the CPU-intensive side, though.

VSTi's:
Arp Odyssey- a synth, that may at first struck you with it's nonsensical look, but it's the way people sounded 40 years ago, and while first five minutes may give you a headache, it's worth it, especially if you like Alien Phat Sounds
(http://www.mediafire.com/file/mnnxdmw0yym/oddy-Free.zip)

When we are at old-school analogs, How someone could forget about
Minimoog?(http://glenstegner.com/MinimogueVA.zip)
Chimera- A noise-based synthesizer, great for Pads and Strange Leads(http://www.majken.se/vst/plugins/chimer ... e1.160.zip)

Synth1: Similar to Oatmeal, but a bit less powerful, can't make new waves (http://www.kvraudio.com/get/214.html)

Atlantis- If you don't have Z3TA+, you propably have this: (http://jeremyevers.com/wp-content/uploa ... is-09p.zip)

Oatmeal- A synth that's special feature is that you can shape the oscillators exactly the way you want, but keep in mind the inevitable (un)harmonics that come with this way of getting sound, and while it looks kinda grey, it might make quite colorful sounds ( http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2237.html)

Monomate- Feelin' Oldschool? have some oldschool sounds (http://cdn.cloudfiles.mosso.com/c18701/ ... te_2_3.zip)

Little critters: add ambiance, make fluttershy proud, or whatever you can do with insecty sounds (http://rekkerd.org/little-critters-vsti/)

And some soundfonts: http://the-filmmusic-group.deviantart.c ... /35177859/
http://www.hammersound.com/

Paid:
VSTi's
Refx Nexus: whatever you make, dubstep, electro, techno, trance, speedcore, there's a preset for that (http://www.refx.com)
Refx Vanguard: If you need a sound ASAP, this is where you go. it has three LFO's, and two ASDR envelopes, but that's enough for most uses, and is simple enough a child could make good patches (http://www.refx.com)
Cakewalk/rcg::audio z3ta+ and Z3TA+2: well known, very popular and one of the best all-round synths of all time, with more modulation possibilities than you'll never need. 6 LFO's and fully customizable 6-stage envelopes (+pitch and amp), (http://www.cakewalk.com/products/z3ta/)
VST's
SPL ranger eq series- Eq'ing at it's best, not only by classic filter'ish means
Melodyne- The best auto-tune on the planet. period (http://www.celemony.com/cms/)
sausage fattener- plain sound? no more. run this baby through your tracks and feel the fatness (
http://www.dadalife.com/?p=937)
Bitspeek- Sounding too natural? not a problem anymore- sound like a robot in no time (http://soniccharge.com/bitspeek)

iZotope stutter edit- Awesome. Just get it NOW (http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/stutteredit/)

You know what? I'm tired of editing this. go here for all the next updates: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=490&start=39

^ I accidentally my whole 1 hour toastbeard with Chimera

Synth1 is without a doubt the best free subtractive synth I've found, followed by Oatmeal which is like it's big brother.

Synth1: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/214.html

Oatmeal: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2237.html

Minimogue: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1716.html

I like this one because it offers slightly more flexibility than Synth1 does, as far as waveforms go.

Atlantis: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2781.html

Ridiculously powerful free synth. I love it so much.

SYNTHS
Nexus: Presets, presets everywhere. Mainly used when you're lazy, or there's a preset that sounds way too good to pass up.

Monomate: I've been abusing this synth a bunch lately, it's awesome. Absolutely amazing for basses.

PLUGINS
Sausage Fattener: I fucking love this thing, and if you know me, you know how I bring it up whenever VSTs are the topic. Pretty much makes everything sound AWESOME.

Melodyne: Are your vocals broken? Does it make your music broken? Or do you just wanna sound like GLaDOS? Well, Melodyne will fix it all up. And it can also make you sound like GLaDOS.

E-Phonic LOFI: Run anything through this baby, and you're bound to get some awesomly fucked up sounds. See my song, Don't Ever Lie To Pinkie Pie, I used E-Phonic for everything. It can also make wubs with stuff too!

SPL Ranger EQ Series: Big fan of these. It's 3 "Rangers", the Bass Ranger, the Vocal Ranger, and the Full Ranger, that you use for anything else. These give you a lot more flexibility when you gotta EQ everything.

I couldn't resist. Sausage Fattener sounded so good that I shelled out the cash. I've only run it on one song as a broad mastering tool, but already I'm loving it :D

Melodyne is gold.

You wouldn't steal a car...
You wouldn't steal a handbag...
Pirating your mother IS A CRIME!
And so on...

As for free orchestral vst, beats me, but Vafrous did link to some free ones recently...
OI! VAFROUS! What were those free vsts you linked recently? (goes and gives a poke)

So we’ll hunt you. Because you can take it. Because you’re not our hero.
You’re a silent guardian of music, a watchful protector of songs.
