Probably been said but
Never try to force your production, you end up with a sub par song
and
leave a few days between mixdown and master, let your ears rest from hearing the same thing over and over

When using pre-made drumloops(like the ones found in VEH2) don't just leave them be plain, add some four to the floor kick drums in there, like so - http://gyazo.com/d8b1c924fc596ea57f3faa727e126fc8

And don't always leave it be a simple kick drum pattern like that, also take the time to leave some drumloops with no kicks like this, and alternating back and forth - http://gyazo.com/f2f2a7ddb199556cda1bf14b9cd2874f

And before anyone says anything, pattern 1 is also kick drums, but their sound is turned off, it's kinda like, sidechaining the bass. Pattern 26 is able to be heard, though.

Louder Doesn't = Better

When you think your finished mixing a track, Listen to it again on every medium you can think of (Headphones, Ear Budz, Speakers, BoomBox, even cosset tape if you have to) It might sound great through those headphones but could sound horrible on a different output.

Study the SHIT out of people you want to sound like.

This is almost synonymous with the stance that you should copy what people do. You probably won't be able to copy them to the point anyway, and you can let your own ideas form while doing so.

When you're feeling inspired, create; when you're not, work (ie sample hunting, read manuals to VSTs you own, mixdown old projects, organise sound library, etc.).

Never be stressed out. Take a break if working on something becomes stressful; stress isn't healthy, not to mention what you're working on probably won't sound as good opposed to if you weren't stressed.

I've said it 1,000 times but I'll say it again:

Don't limit yourself to only using white noise downlifters for transitions at the drop. There are plenty of other good transitions; use them instead. Be creative.

Suggestions: upward or downward pitch bending, automated bitcrushing, white noise with an LFO, noise other than white noise, automated panning and stereo placement of your buildup, interesting sound effects, the sound of a jet taking off (adding a comb filter to whatever noise and pitching it upwards), glitchy noise, no transition, reverse reverb, cutting out from the buildup, drum kicks speeding up, reverse cymbal (ok, maybe not), filter cutoff automation, a breakdown of the melody, or whatever else you can come up with.

Just don't use white noise on it's own. It's a bit bland. Add to it.

Don't be afraid to think outside the box or try something new. You'll probably learn something even if it sounds bad.

No. You're wrong. Only white noise works. Lol jk I know any kind of downlifter works, but if you really just want a little boost to your drops white noise is fine.

Also, don't take credit for other people's work like this guy. As in, don't even use default loops.

I usually turn the master volume way down when mixing a song for a bit and pay attention to see if one instrument is predominant over the others, or maybe one isn't even audible. Sometimes listening at such a low level helps catch hiccups I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

1. Get into music theory. At least a bit.

2. Everything below 100 Hz belongs to kick and bass. If both are present.

3. When mixing down, walk through your room. It can sound totally crap if you're outside the sweetspot of your speakers.

Learn how to mix first. A bad mix will sounds bad on all speaker systems. This tip really only applies when you're trying to sell your music.

EQ out anything below about 30-40Hz. It's rarely audible and muddy's up the mix (especially in subs and kicks).
Well I'm pretty much done with this site (it wasn't about the April Fool's joke I actually loved that). If for some reason somebody wants to contact me or something (not like any of you even care lol):

You get out what you put in. If working on a song becomes boring and tedious, there's a higher chance the listener will be bored, too. If you have enjoyed making something and had fun with it, there's a higher chance the listener will enjoy it and have fun too.
