Building songs around vocals

Postby BronyMetalMix » 22 May 2014 11:48

Hey guys!
I got something to ask of you all. Do you have any advice or tips or general things I should look out for when making a melody, chord progression or other things about a song when working with vocals? I'm working with vocals for the first time using an accapella of "Let the Rainbow remind you". While I think I have a good drop chord progression so far for when I stop the vocals, I'm wondering if there's anything I should look out for when making a melody, chord progression, drums, stuff like that for when I do have the vocals do play.

Thanks,
Note Wise

it's good to know what notes the vocals are singing so that you don't make something dissonant or clash with the vocals.

You can also take a listen to the melodies, chord progressions and drums of the original to get a good idea of what can work well with the vocals.
