Tombstonestyle? Or is it called electro swing?

Postby Coloriot » 18 Aug 2013 20:21

So a lot of The Living Tombstone's tracks have this swingy vibe to it. 16 NOCAB and Good ol' Days are good examples. I'm just wondering what genre best fits it. A while back I made a song, and someone said it sounded like his style, so I wanted to learn more (song is below). I've heard of the genre 'Electro Swing', but since I'm bad at specifying genres, I just need to know exactly what genre this style of music is. Anypony know? (Please don't call me a noob, thank you.)

Colorkek that makes computer noises.

What's my main genre? All of them.

Speaking without having my headphones (and thus being unable to listen to your track right now), Tombstone's style is by no means electroswing. It's electro that has a slight swing to it, but when you get into electroswing as a proper genre, you're talking stuff like Caravan Palace, which usually goes no more electronic than processed drums, synths playing what would be piano parts, and the occasional distorted bassline, but beyond that, it's primarily big-band-era jazz.

So if your track is indeed closer to Tombstone than Caravan Palace, I'd just call it electro, because as far as styles go, Tomb's is pretty generic and hard to narrow down to a subgenre.

I can't feel my brain.

Ok, thanks. So basically it's swingy electro.

Actually, this was very early in my music 'career', so I just used one of the instruments that came with live 7.

Probably Operator, it's a fm that come with the ableton suite, and maybe the cheaper versions, not quite sure.

I dislike saying that tracks in the 100-115 BPM range are "Electro" for some reason.
