Post A Picture Of How You Arrange Your Songs

From scales and semitones to pentatonics and cadence patterns. It's all about the science behind the expression, here.

So here's my arrangement for my song "No Sugar". As you can tell it's mostly messy, but I might plan on arranging properly someday... Image

i just set up a template for MIDI songs and for Orchestral songs and start composing on one track then spreading it out
Image

Image

and of course the only effect I use when orchestrating
Image

funfact; I had started off editing MIDIs for the first time looong ago, with the songs from Simcity 2000. The name of the song I had edited to make every MIDI song I've ever created, was the song 10017 from the Simcity 2000 OST.
Every song I have ever is a branch of that file. 10017.midi.

Amen.

I hardly ever loop loops. I realised I was using the 'make unique' function all the time, and ended up having 1034939294 loops all used only once in the song.
Now I try to make complete segments in single loops. Being as disorganised as I am, I find it easier than organising my playlist.
Edit: also, the project I posted is a bit special, so it doesn't look too much like what I normally do

Since I do orchestral music my arranging is less interesting to look at, so I decided to post an image of my tempo track instead because it can get a little silly.

Spoiler I laugh at your BPM:

I don't understand how everyone can have such unorganised projects... like how do you come back to a song after a break and know where to continue...

I think I speak for us all when I way we don't :3

Nah. My projects are always "disorganised", but I don't find it to hard to just look around in the project and see what did what and just keep on working from that. The real problem isn't finding which patterns where which or what channel was which sound. The hard part is actually being creative :I

You spoke for me. I never go back to my old stuff. If I let a project go stale for too long, it usually ceases to be exciting. And if I've written anything since that stale project, I've likely improved my compositional ability or workflow some, in which case it would be super frustrating to spend hours working on something I already think is inferior. The most I might do is jot down a melody, chords, or rhythm from an old piece and then just start over in a new project.

Also my projects are disorganized, because Cubase doesn't always let me organize things the way I want to.

You think wrong! It takes me maybe 30 seconds to familiarize myself with an old project and remember where everything is. I find organizing beyond just labelling mixer channels, instruments, and patterns is pretty much just an exercise in vanity and doesn't provide me any real benefit. Everything not labelled is something easily remembered or inferred at a glance.

Did you miss the 2nd part of my post?
I don't even label mixer channels, and I rarely label anything else either. And I still don't have a problem going back to old tracks. It works fine for me when I do go back, but I don't usually go back to them, since I usually leave them cause they weren't going anywhere and I got bored. For some of my more ambicious tracks I go back to fix some mixing issues and make stuff generally louder... but if I don't work on something for a long time it's usually for a reason.

Am I the only one here who uses a tracker? Looking at this thread makes me feel like it.

Also, this is a cover I just started on today (and might be my Remix War entry if I can keep up.) I'd really like for someone to guess what this is, but you don't have to if you don't want. (Hint: "Pulse 1" is the lead.)

There used to be another user on here that made all of his music using a gameboy. I've tried out trackers but they just don't fit my style as I do a lot of live tracking stuff.

You don't happen to remember their name, do ya? I'd really like to know.

The only other name that comes to mind would be Interrobang Pie, but he hasn't wrote for Game Boy, only for NES/Famicom and some other systems.

Ooooh. Well then, I'm guessing it's safer just leave that topic alone.

So, to keep this thread from derailing any further, I'll put up another pic. This is where the breakdown is (or maybe it's called the drop, I get my terminologies mixed up.)
