Wacom makes great graphics tablets it looks like, judging by how they take up a lot of the top 100 of graphics tablets on amazon. I'm sure that it'll work fine if you decide to go with it. Although I'm not sure how graphics tablets would work since the drawing surface doesn't show anything (I'm assuming. Do you just like press down the pen and hope you get it where you're aiming? Jesus, I'm not sure how people work with tablets that don't have a display, just a drawing surface)

there are ones with screens but they are expensive

ive used one before and when you press down it starts drawing where your mouse is it doesnt jump around like touch screen monitors. this is so you dont have to guess where you are starting

though for the ones with screens i think it works differently

what I use is an 8x6 tablet from monoprice, not that it's superior to wacom in any way, but it works for me. so there you go.
i did the art on this page with it:

Yo, you looking on getting a drawing tablet? I can personally recommend the Bamboo Drawing Tablet from Wacom, but, as you said, they are kinda expensive

BUT

Check out the monoprice line. They are exceptionally good, and incredibly inexpensive. I have a close friend who's going to the Savannah School of Art and Design and she recommends those to everyone. If you want a great starter tablet, I'd look right there. They might not be as good as Wacom, but they have touch and tilt sensitivity, multitouch capabilities, and screen feedback
