This is a thread where you can share about any contests you've ever won. I dunno why, but I thought this'd be fun.

So for my school, this local tutoring company held a contest to see who could make a commercial for them. Then they would narrow it down to 4 commercials, and post them on youtube and Facebook. Whoever got the most views and likes won $200.

My design once won a VEX Robotics state championship after I literally managed to get nothing but good partners all day. The design was made to climb a ladder and secure 30 points for the alliance. It never actually stayed on there because after two minutes they cut the power and the robot touched back down, unfortunatly pull-ups don't count, and I didn't make a locking mechanism in time. Still won first place due to sheer luck.

I mean, on paper this was a really nice design. Every other robot was designed to score rings, but those could be descored by the other team. this would ensure 30 points, and would take more torque than those robots have to dislodge it from the ladder. However, it never worked properly, so good idea, terrible execution, still manage to win.

My wife entered us in a radio contest for a soundcheck and meet the band giveaway for Coldplay in 2002. We won along with a few other people and we got them to sign a bunch of stuff, play 3 songs, and then saw them front row for the show. One of the guys who came in with us taped both the the warm up, soundcheck, and the concert so that was an additional bonus.

WHOA I LOVE COLDPLAY

this summer I won a tumblr giveaway my friend did. That's how I got my Gamzee t-shirt.
On another forum I won a dvd of someone's animation. The challenge was to guess some 80s songs. I got three out of eight but that was better than anyone else. Huh.
abd when I was like 5 years old I went to a special showing of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and I won the grand door prize. It was a 1000 piece puzzle of some cadilac sports cars. Not too much use for a five year old!

That's all, really. I have really bad luck with contests, usually.

We had a bike day at school where we..err..rode bikes. I did that pretty well apparently because I won a backpack.

I won an 8Dio contest last year which was "write the most creative story to tell us why you need one of our products". Got Liberis which was sweet, since its like $500.

There was a DJ masterclass at my school (the DJ made some mistakes), and we had to do a group assignment in which we had to think up a festival name, genre, location and line-up.
I didn't know anyone around me, except for one kid that was already in a group (I was practically deserted when we had to make groups). He added me to the group, saying "okay guys, we've got Merlijn so we've won already."

Anyways, the name became Eargasm Festival, the location a 4-day-cruise ship(if I remember correctly), the genre Progressive House and the line-up was massive, 80% thought up by yours truly :P

We handed our stuff in to the judges, and afterwards, the DJ said: "Okay, we've got a winner. Do I daresay? It's Eargasm Festival."

We start cheering, and got a goodybag each, containing some candy, some advertisement stickers, and headphones that broke as soon as I tried them at home xD
After I had put it back together, it hurt my ears by resting on them (fucking hard), and the sound quality xD I was sitting there all happy faec, then put on a random Hardcore track still smiling. That smile dropped instantly xD my god.

Many years ago, when saying Xbox one wouldn't make sense, cause there was only one, I won an Xbox special edition, green shell n shit.
You where supposed to answer a few questions and then name a character for a children comic book. I used my superior intellect and my masterful sense of bad pun humour and named the small gibbon monkey character: Nobig (or maybe Nobbig, don't remember)

I once won 100 ISK from a scratch off lottery ticket that cost 100 ISK. I also won a little money from a slot machine. Used it to buy beer from the bar.

-When I was a little boy of say five or six I won a contest during Christmas in the community surrounding our cabin and got a terribad skateboard from a fake Santa.

Also, forum pages are by default a topic. Labeling this as a topic is redundant. You could have just said "Ever Win a Contest Before?" and been fine. I only see the need to do that for, say, a forum game.

I won a pinewood derby when I was like 5 and that was great.
I also won the Grand Prize in the Michigan State Science and Engineering fair two years ago, that was pretty cool too.

I won a Powder Game fanfic contest. I didn't even know it was possible to write Powder Game fanfiction until I did it.

Best thing I've ever done to any degree of proficiency relating to competitions is taking 1st at the cluster bee in my state district. (Spelled out on the first round in regionals though, heh)

As for the sweepstakes type of stuff, I actually managed to pull a winning code card from MLP trading card packs. I sent it in and got a Fluttershy card signed by Andrea Libman. It remains the only signed merchandise I own.

Ooh! Ooh! I have another one!

Back in 6th grade I did uil spelling, and I got first place. Me and 3 others from my school (a seventh and an eighth grader) got to go to a district spelling bed that was aired on tv or something. I lasted longer than the other two kids from my school and came in thirteenth place overall. (I misspelled escalator) (wow did I really use autocorrect on escalator right there?)

Oh, not sure if this quite counts as winning a competition, but while in middle school I, along with the rest of my schools team, made it to the state level in Science Olympiad. I've also one countless random games in school.
