Please don't derail a topic. A genre isn't just a theoretical style, it means enough people have followed to duplicate and make a visible genre.

As for Dubstep vs DnB, here are two very different Dnb songs from the fandom which are clearly not dubstep to emphasize what DnB is.

A lot of Dnb is Bass Music, but not all of it. The most definitive aspect of Dnb is probably the kicksnare, if you hear the kicksnare drum pattern it's probably dnb. If you don't it's probably not.

Yeah, I know, I was just poking fun at the amount of subgenres the various subgenres of EDM, though there might be enough of a metalstep scene now that it might be legitimate.

That's the thing is there really aren't a load of dubstep subgenres. The biggest issues are with the move from original style to brostep and agreeing on a flattering enough name that those fans will accept.

I thought this used to be in the composition/music theory section of the forum. I personally thought it was appropriate for that??

Oh well.

i made it in the soap box cause i knew people would get off topic

as for more genres ive heard a lot of ambient dubstep so who votes for it to go under oldschool?
