It's a job that the government only gives to the "smartest" men in the Navy.

Keep in mind that not everyone takes the job, it isn't offered to any other branch of service, and you have to be really, really, REALLY qualified as a civilian in order to get a similar job.

Basically, and not to toot my own horn, I feel like a complete fucking badass right now. I'm really honored that my country wants me to serve in this selective of a position.

I knew a nuclear engineer when I lived out by Dutch Harbor, and he was, in fact, a complete fucking badass.

Active Duty. I'm gonna try to switch to IT if I can, because that's more enjoyable and has the same benefits. I'm just glad they gave me the opportunity; they want to make me an Officer too

lol nuclear engineer more as in nuclear power used to run ships and submarines, not the nuclear missile type
