how much time do you waste?

for some reason, whenever I get on a computer to do work, I just check my emails, and mlr to see what's new. I often get carried away and waste 1 - 2 hours before I begin any real work.

Is anyone else like this? how much time do you waste with ponies and other random things?

In a maths tute right now, haven't done anything for 2 hours, just been exploring dubstepforum and Dogs On Acid since I sat down. I haven't been to a lecture for two weeks, haven't even started on the latest topic, and there's an assignment due on Monday...

It's horrible because I don't have school anymore. I've been struggling for a week to get up before noon. But when I try to go to bed early I look at the interwebs and suddently it's morning and everyting goes full derp.

Quit browser, quit Skype, quit irc, leave only DAW open, then go take a walk around the block, then come back and compose down any ideas you have in mind, no matter how lame and cheesy they might seem to you.

Continue to develop this to a final track -- feel free to skip doing parts you don't want to do and use loops or parts of your previous projects -- until you have some sort of arrangement of your track.

Save this. Decide to publish or not.

Then repeat from start -- go outside, take a walk, come back and compose ideas down.

The secret why you need to do this is simple -- you get cheap practice with low expectations. If you do this every day, in a month you have experience of 30 trainwrecks that you know how to avoid.

In 5 years, your worst track done this way will be better than your best track right now.

loads. loads upon loads. It's not even on music either. In my day-to-day free time after school, I usually end up listening to youtube subscription emails and bothering my friends on facebook. And MLR of course. God forbid I ever start using skype regularly. On weekends I tend to watch stuff, like whatever TV show im trying to get caught up on, but only rarely do I think to myself "I should work on music" because I have most of those thoughts in school when I can't do any music things. Mostly I just have to have so much free time that I get bored of the usual stupid things I do and try to music, like during the summertime. Or I need to be really into the project im working on. But right now I feel pretty motivated to start learning how to electronic music production and make some house for Nine Volt's album thing :3

Though, ponies is the one thing I truly find myself appreciating nowadays so I wouldn't so much call it a waste, but a socially misunderstood investment.

But, somehow I passed all of my classes this semester and managed to not get fired from my job, so I guess I'm not wasting THAT much time.

today, I wasted about two hours playing Jet Pack Joy Ride on my 60 inch tv. TWO HOURS!!!
I've never played that game for more than twenty minutes before! how the heck can I waste two hours playing such a simple game?
