Try making an anagram out of your real name, or something similar. Better yet, try to make a name based on your interests.

It'll take a while though, if you've been stuck with the same user-name for years it'll take forever to adopt a new one that you won't disregard immediately.

Even words that look pretty cool you'll probably disregard, as like I said, you're far too used to the name you have now.

Back in my young teen days I came up with Luigicrowd (Mario 128, replace with Luigi and you have a crowd of Luigi... I was pretty retarded back then it seems). Eventually hated the name, short-handed it to LC. Which most places don't like the length of, so extended it with numbers to LC155. You can see where this is going. Finally decided I was sick of that too, and thought up something else.

Since I have a fascination with astronomy, I came up with Celestial as part of a name that could work (This was before I discovered MLP, so that part of my name has nothing to do with Celestia.) Obviously, the name was far too common to be used anywhere, so I started looking through ancient greek words to see if I could find anything there. Nostos is a the greek word for homecoming. (So essentially my name means planetary homecoming. What lol). Anyway, I liked how Nostos sounded so I put it on the end. Ta-da.

Even now I still think 'eh..' but only because I'm still used to having the same name for around 7 years beforehand.

(inb4 'lol it sux' ;-;)

Postby Interrobang Pie » 19 Oct 2011 11:22

I got my name from a community comic jam thing - character A had an Interrobang Pie, character B didn't, character B took the Pie... It was a piece of shit. I had the pseudonym Neopixel before that, but Interrobang Pie just stuck, I guess. That's what you'll get when you find the right name - it just sticks.

Hmmm... try Petter - short, snappy, similar to the one you have now (so it won't confuse us). Short and snappy names are the best, but names which can easily be abbreviated are also good (Interrobang Pie goes to I-Pie, Interrobang, Pie, Bang, ?!...) - if you use Petter or anything else that sounds like your name, you'll probably find that you get abbreviated to Pet.

Names I find difficult to shorten are names like Makkon and sci. Can't really remove either syllable from Makkon without losing the context, and Sci really can't get any smaller without aforementioned problem. That said, they're already pretty short.

Also, regarding anagrams:
Anagrams for: interrobang pie
107143 found.

Wouldn't it be easier if it was short and punchy? Adamant Dash sounds more powerful than Adamant approach. ;F
